is there a way to open the lenses w/o breaking them? I just noticed my nokya oem wattage yellow fogs melted the black guards inside the lenses clean off and wanted to get rid of them. Any ideas?
some people that had the problem with the higher wattage bulbs were able to remove the black guard with needle nose pliers through the bulb opening. its worth a shot before ordering new housings.
Thanks I hope that works. I'll give it a shot as soon as I get some time otherwise I just might order up the driving light kit from moss motors and get some foglights when I get the Roush front bumper.
had that problem with to hot a bulb.took them out and used a metal coat hanger.bent it and fished it to the opening, used my pinky and put some jb weld around the inside of the lense where the guard goes in that slot.let it dry overnight and have't had a problem since.
^^^ interesting fix. I wonder if it makes any difference having the guards in there vs not having them. I can't really imagine them doing something to scatter the light so not to blind other drivers.
Not to steal this thread but I find it interesting that this is the first car I've had with fog lights that weren't yellow in color when on. My 06 Miata (just sold to buy the GT), my 04 F150, my 00 E320, etc. all have yellow fog lights. And we get severe fog here in the central Calif valley. Anybody know why they are not yellow?
Well they are more of a driving light then a fog light or else they would have put them on the bottom for the optimized effect. I got yellows because at least I can mitigate the inefficient placement by having a light with a temperature and wavelength that is not reflected by water particles.
