Im trying to run a toggle switch to my foglamps cause my regular switch burned out. But how do i get the switch out, does the dash have to come out? If so how? Or does the switch pop out? I bought the hanes repair manual but there is absolutely nothing interior in there so that was a waste. Anyone kno? The car is a 87 mustang

It takes a little effort but if you take the i/p cover off (it is all one unit) and look from behind it you will understand. It can sometimes take a good amount of effort to pop them out afterwards.

You will need a mini flat head screw driver. Look to the left side of the switch (directly behing the mechanism you press to turn on the headlight and also behind the fog light mechanism) and you will see two tabs that connect to the dash. You need to push in on those tabs as you pull on the switch. You will need to get both tabs past the dash and must keep force on the switch the entire time. It a lot easier than it sounds.

Thanks it worked and my switch wasn't fryed either i have a inline fuse there that popped out of the socket :D

You don't have to remove the cluster pod, the trick is finding the tabs, be patient it doesn't take much force. Also be careful that the wires don't come out of the connector as the locks get brittle and break easily. It is a good idea to make a diagram of the wires going to the switch for future reference.

Good Luck, Don
