Good deal on the shifter. Even better that you modded it to fit your needs. Nice work.

Nothing like buying a brand new part and hacking it all up.

Well I have been driving it all week. No complaints. i have beat on it a little bit just to get a feel for it. Seems to be stout.

I just picked up a new shifter pretty much the same shown here. I have a question about the shifter base (the black part), mine seems like its not square on one end, do these come this way? Also this shifter came without instructions and was wondering about some "extra" parts.I have 2 springs (i know what these are for already) 4 longer set screw type bolts and 4 extra nuts with this. What are these for? It looks like an easy install but is there any tips i should know before installing?

Thanks

PS Brought this thread back from the dead huh.

Had the same bunch of extra goodies with the shifter I installed in Lynn's Capri. I think the springs are just spares in case the ones already installed in there eventually wear out. Either that, or they're either stiffer or softer than the ones already installed. The bolts are just spares in case you lose the others, I suppose. I just threw 'em in the box the shifter came with, along with the stock shifter assembly, and left 'em sitting in the closet. Lynn's been happily rowing through the gears on that shifter for a few months now without a single problem, so ... meh. I'm guessing those parts aren't anything vital.

Don't you hate when you go to put something like that together and you get that little baggie of reeeeeeeal important-lookin' crap left over?
