K So as some people know I have this Crazy timing problem, and today I took it into my shop at school and besides from finding out my air filter disappeared
I found my balancer must have slipped the outer ring. I put it to TDC #1, I used the rotor as a refernce and turned the motor so it pointed to the #1 plug wire location then used a screwdriver to see when the piston was at the top of its travel. Once I got it there, I look at my balancer and timing pointer thingy and its off the scale hah. It was at about 60 degrees(itstops at 30degreeslol) just like i found out with my adjustable timing light. So this def. means my balancer is shot right? It would have to be since the balancer only has one keyway....OK so heres my idea, I put it to TDC cylinder #1 and mark a reference point on the balancer with white out or whatever. then once i get it running i can fine tune it to 10 (or 10-14)degrees with the dial on the back on my timing light. Hows this sound? Seems pretty straightforward to me. This is just temporary until I get a new one, and so I know where my timing is now. I cant afford a Fluidamper or anything so any decent one I can get for pretty cheap? I was planning on an oem replacement which is like 40 bucks or something and once I start my job ill get a Fluidamper one. Am I doing damage with a slipped balancer? Where should I get a new oem replacement? Advance, Autozone, Napa? Thanks :SNSign:
