John, would this bearing work for a lower control arm conversion?

http://qa1.thomasnet.com/item/inch-spherical-bearings/ypb-t-series-spherical-bearings/ypb8t?&seo=110&bc=1002|3001276|1052|3001108

I'm thinking of making a set for my 66 coupe. TIA.

You can make it work with that bearing. The bearing isn't the hard part, making a weld in sleeve with groves for the clips is. We have just the bearing kits for $50ea. They come with the bearing, groved weld-in sleeve, spacers and clips. The bearing we use is a 5/8 spherical, teflon lined, self lubricating rated at 32,000lbs. and made in the USA.

It is a fun project, send me an email and I'll be glad to help you find the parts you need.

Is that $50 for both sides or per side? In all reality it doesn't matter that's still better than buying the bearings and having to have the sleeves made. I wish I had a home lathe than the wife would never see me....wait she already says that

They are $50ea. and you can use them for a lot of other stuff. These are AMC parts I put the bearing kits in. I also put our roller perch kit in a set of AMC perches.

Looks like you could use those spring perches if you cut too much out of your springs and needed to get the front end back up

You could if you put a Ford Shaft in them. The AMC bolt spread is wider. No one reproduces them so they are not easy to find.

hey john, with the bearing kit you sell, will it work with stock stafts? or do you have to have a custom shaft made?

What it takes is a set of used/new perches that have a true 7/8" OD shaft. The original Ford perches have a 7/8" shaft and some of the aftermarket ones do. It's hard to tell some times without taking it apart. I found one set of aftermarket perches that have a tubular/hollow shaft, boy, talk about a scary looking part.

It's a custom made shaft from 4140 chromoly. The stock shaft won't work with our bearing kit or any other that I could find. I spent over a year in development of the roller UCA's and the design of the shaft was most of it.

Have you thought about taking you upper a step further & putting the drop in the shaft, so no hole drilling is required? I noticed TCP is now doing this. It would be a bit more fabrication as the stock uppers would hit the shaft & need to be modified not to hit the bolts/shaft & strengthend.

I just noticed today that you are now selling a kit to modify uppers. When I get closer to complete on my car I may be going that route.
