Ford 8.8 Loud!!

Hi guys i have a rear end making lots of noise. It has done this from day one. (when i bought it) The noise gets louder the faster i go. It is not gear noise. If i am going 70Mph and kind of let off and on the gas it comes and goes VERY loud! I did see that if i grab my drive shaft and push up and down and side to side i have some play in the crush sleeve? Is that my noise? Any input i would love!!!

Did you check your diff fluid? Could be a whinning axel bearing(s). Check it. You may just want to change it...that way you can verify it is NOT the gears.

Is it a whineing noise, if its whining its probably your gears, there might not be enough backlash set in the pinion. If its a different noise you could have warped drums.

Check your fluid! I had the same problem when I first got my fox body. I didn't do anything and when I took my rear end to have gears put in it my axel housing was ruinned. I would check my fluid it is easy to do just kind of messy.
