So I was at my buddies dealership to pick up an oil filter (FL-820-S) when he mentionned me about this new HD high performance filter. It's heavier than the normal filter and it's supposed to flow more oil.

FFRP Oil fitler CM-6731-FL820. I've only found one post about it here. Anyone ever used it?

FORD RACING HIGH PERFORMANCE OIL FILTERS

  • Synthetic-Polymer/Cellulose-Fiber blend media
  • Heavy gage base and canister for higher burst strength and impulse fatigue resistance
  • High quality silicone anti-drain back valve
  • Non-stick sealing gasket for ease of installation and removal
  • Long life with standard and synthetic motor oils
  • Up to 50% more filtering capacity then standard filters
  • Improved filtering efficiency

This also comes in the FFRP Perfomance Pack for 05-06 Mustang GT:

The first package is the FR1, also known as the "Power Pack". The FR1 package "provides for more muscle car manners with a throatier exhaust note and an increase in horsepower due to new mass air meter and Ford Racing premium fuel calibration for the 4.6L 3V V-8 engine." According to FRPP "The equipment making up FR1 is bolt-on and can be managed by an experienced “do-it-yourselfer” in his or her garage." The result is an approximate 20 rear wheel horsepower increase. (which is about 325hp at the crank) The suggested retail price of this package is $899.00

Power Pack includes:

-Muffler Kit (part #M-5230-GTA)
-Performance Oil Filter (part #CM-6731-FL820)

Realy there that heavy? I run a Fram HD (TG2) and was thinking about going to a mobil 1 Extended Life(I installed it on my ranger but I dont run extended life oil). Is this ford filter better then the top notch mobil 1 filter? It looks awsome wish I could see it when I pop my hood.

Don't use Fram stang2003gt, they're crappy.

if you use this frpp oil filter, can you use if for more than 1 oil change?

I use Fram ToughGuard. Fram is a good filter I know people who have used them before I was born and still trust them. I think Mobil is even better, This ford filter look very very good and looks to rival a ToughGuard or mobil.

Im about to switch from Mobil 1 5-30w Syth to RoyalPurple 5-20w

Just saw in Pepboy that Mobil turned ther 0-20w to 5-20w finally a ford OE spec oil from mobil, to-bad Im switching to RoyalPurple.

Also if the filter is still good then the oil would be too as sythic doesnt break down like regular natural oil.

fram is one of the lowest quality filters made. even the tough guard ones. their quality has dimished a ton over the years. just saw a pic of one form the early 80s cut open next to a brand new one cut open and the differences were staggering.

Spend a few extra dollars and pick up a Motorcraft filter from your local dealership. Your car will thank you.

God, I remember when they were $3 at WalMart. Now Im paying $7 a pop :(. That's 8 tacos I could buy from JITB! :bang:

How can they be bad? Ive never had a filter fail on me. Ive use tough guard on many cars mine and others and have always performed well. But lately when buying a filter from pepboys for my ranger I was inspecting the filter before I bought it and deside for the first time to buy a different filter because the fram filters look like they were very old. Crap gaskets.

Whats so great with motorcraft anyway. OEM = CRAP, But the FRPP filter look sweet!!!!

FRPP needs to make a full syth 5-20w oil. <-- wouldnt that be cool.

I have never used it, nor would I consider it with my hardly modified setup.

However, if one had a supercharger, a turbo setup, etc and did a lot of track racing, it might hold some benefit. Without seeing objective test data from a reliable source, I would not change from the Motorcraft filter based on marketing propaganda alone (badging it as FRPP).
