Sorry for the long post.. read if you like
If you dont Please just read the QUESTION at the bottom..

Kwik-Kar lube on Jones road bought me a new tranny about a year ago.. Some dumba$$ didnt put tranny fluid back in.. :bang:
Joe Myers ford installed it, about 2 weeks later i noticed that it kept getting stuck in reverse.. Hot cold didnt matter, sometime it took some effort to get it out and other time it would get STUCK.. Very random.. Plus the tranny never felt right in the first place.. So i call them and they said they have never heard of that problem.. I started doing research and found a TSB thanks the StangNet about it.. I called Tremec they told me did know about it.. Took it back to Ford, showed them the TSB # "our mechaics know about the TSBs" and after a week they said they couldnt find anything wrong.. i said what about the TSB stating the problem.. "you tranny does not have any problem" i told them to get fooked.. About 3 months later i took it back cause i made a U turn and had to use reverse and got stuck RIGHT in the middle of a 45mph road.. blocking trafic for about 5 min.. It was not fun at all.. SO i took it back PI$$ED, about 3 days later they told me they cant touch it.. " WHY? " you have aftermarket shifter.. (Steeda) I said you install it on my new tranny.. and ford sells it.. So they told me i had to install the stock one and then come back.. A$$holes :fuss: :chair: :uzi:
So i installed it and tested it my self.. well it still did it.. of course.. I couldnt take off work anymore so i just had to deal with it.. around XMas time I did some more research on the TSB about it.. Went ahead and paid $25 alldata.com to get more than the title for the TSB.. BTW that site is cool found ALOT of great TSB and recalls on my car.. Highly Recommend.. :nice:

"M/T - T45 Stuck In Reverse/Pops Out Of Reverse
Article No.
01-23-5

11/26/01

TRANSMISSION - T-45 MANUAL TRANSMISSION -
STUCK IN REVERSE - DIFFICULT TO SHIFT INTO
REVERSE - POPS OUT OF REVERSE

FORD:
1996-2001 MUSTANG

ISSUE
Some vehicles equipped with the T45 transmission may exhibit a condition of being stuck in reverse, difficult to shift into reverse or may pop out of reverse. This may be caused by the 5th/Reverse Gear Shift Fork. This article does not apply to the condition of "unable to get into reverse" or "reverse block out".

ACTION
Verify which shift fork is in the transmission, measure the reverse engagement, and replace the shift fork with the proper part number. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details."

There are 3 different shift forks..... Hmmm
"Using the following criteria, select the correct 5th/reverse fork. This fork should replace the current fork in the transmission.
a. If the measurement is less than 68.1158 mm (2.682 inches), use the "long" fork (F8ZZ-7230-EA).
b. If the measurement is greater than 69.233 mm (2.726 inches), use the "short" fork (F8ZZ-7230-DE).
c. If the measurement falls between the above values, then install the "nominal" fork (F6ZZ-7230-C)."

Jan 5 i took it back.. showed them the detailed instutions how to replace the parts.. and told them, Ill measure the forks my self. "No our service men will be fine they know what to do." i said are you sure ? he laughed.. aha
Well they found that 5th/reverse had the wrong fork.. :owned: also replaced the synchros too.. OMG NO WAY.. I said you guys are good.. :nice: And for some reason they couldnt get it in 1st either.. "remove main shaft and set 1st and 2nd shift gates assemble" ?

Well Feb 4 I get it back and its still doesnt feel right.. :bang: doesnt seem to stick in reverse nor is it as noisey but it feels hard going in gears..

QUESTION: has anyone filed a REPAIR REVIEW FORM ?
I just want a new tranny.. im stick of screwing with this.. Plus ive already spent $150 of my SC fund and i want to get it before I blow it all..

Once again sorry for the long post.. It might help some one out there

Matt

Dont know if this is an option for you or not, but there is a guy in town here (Jeff Bordelon in Austin) that is considered the best tranny man in the area:

http://austinareastangs.com/abt/

He has done lots of rebuilds, replacements, and troubleshooting around town. Might be worth to call him up, explain your problems, and see what he says. Would def. be worth your time to come up here and have him look/fix whatever problems you are having (especially since if parts needed to be replaced you could always opt for stronger internals). His pricing is extremely competitive (I actually think he doesnt charge enough  ), he knows trannies, and he does the job right. Just tell him Phil with the black 01 GT sent ya.

I went through the same thing except a lin/merc dealer kept my car for close to 3 weeks and didnt even touch the tranny then told me we dont have a manual tranny tech. I then asked why they didnt send it out while they were doing other stuff and they just looked at me strange( I was told they would fix it to begin with). Ford has some *****ty service centers, you either have to know what they need to do and tell them or dont expect to get a problem fixed. I wonder how normal everyday persons cars get fixed with this crap.

mrvax, lol yeah took 4 months and a lawyer to get Kwik Kar lude to pay for the tranny
Sam98, yeah ive thought about that.. i might get a new screwed up tranny again..
Thanks 01BlkGT, ill do that.

Hate to say this but im thinking about just buying a t56 and bein done with it..

That's why I have the 100,000 mile/7 year bumper to bumper warranty for my 2001 GT. I don't have to worry if anything like this happens.

That is exactly what I thought when I bought a new Chevy truck with the extended warranty (also 7 year/100,000 miles). When the transmission died @ 45,000 miles and I tried to use the warranty, I was informed that they had gone out of business...what a scam. :uzi: I was never reimbursed for my imaginary warranty either. Nevertheless, the Chevy dealer still fixed it for free under the factory warranty... :nice:

I also have a extended Bumper to Bumper warranty to 90,000 and its not a ford warranty.. So it covers more..

If i didnt have a warranty and the tranny its self didnt have a 3yr warranty they would have found the problem in 1 day or less and told me that to be safe we will need to replace the whole tranny.. "Mr. P the total will be $3200
also bend over for a sec. :stick:

Ford service doesnt make that much money off warranty work.. thats why they didnt want to mess with my problem.. IE: my car was at the dealer for a month to get a 5 hour job done.. ill give them a day or two just to find the problem.. the other 27 day it was there was because they had non-warranty work job to do.. $$$$$$$$$

Update on my problems:
drove it today for a while.. to me it shifts hard and its harder going into 1st than before.. NEW F@#$in problem when i started it up my interior lights kinda flickered.. headlights and running lights were not on.. :bang:
i let it warmup and noticed that it sounds like its missing.. the RPM's drop alittle and the interior lights dim alittle too.. As you can see i have U/P so im use to alittle surge.. But its different.. Now heres the Icing On The Cake
about 2 min after leaving my house my windsheild wipers moved alittle.. about 1in. then 10 sec later they went all the way up then down... I was like WTF   .. so i check to make sure they wernt on.. nope.. :bang:

Have you driven a Ford lately ?
