I am planing on ordering an exhaust system and I am deciding between Corsa and Ford's stinger(understand that it is Borla's system, just OEM'd to Ford) I also plan on getting the Ford racing x-pipe or Corsa x-pipe that replaces the "H", not the full x-pipe...I saw several dyno's online that show Corsa with a decent gain, but everyone else seems to be saying "no gain" with axle backs. The Corsa set up would be about $900 and the Ford only $550. I'd pay more if it gives me a performance gain, but not for "sound". Does anyone have any dyno's or anything the've done to let me know if Ford or Corsa actaully made a gain. A lot of web advertisements can include exhaust with a "tune" and the gain is the same as just a "tune" alone so I want some unbiased opinion. Thanks in advance.

I'm going Stinger but first I'm gonna put JLT CAI and tune. I think most people here will tell you you aren't going to get much, if anything with axel-back. Not sure about X pipe.

I went with the Corsa X-pipe and axle back exhaust. I chose them because of the sound first and then appearance, from the back. I did not expect to get any dramatic gains just from these mods so that was not a big concern, but I do love the sound. I was really hesitant to buy them at first but I found a couple of good sites to save some $$. Once I saw these prices it helped me to commit. I am going to get my ride on a Dyno next weekend, but I have already modified my intake so I will not be able to identify the gains from just the exhaust.

For the x-pipe, total paid $256.44.

For the axle backs, total paid $633.37.

I just put the Frpp/stinger mufflers on my 06 GT 3 weeks ago and could not be happier. They sound just as good as the Corsa IMO. I was also torn trying to make the same decision between the two and decided to save the money. They sound deep, throaty and also get alot of compliments. As far as drone goes I would say it is VERY minimal and no where near as bad as my 91 GT.

Your advise is very much appreciated! I am ordering the exhaust mid June (payday) and I already have Demolet's Tuneable Induction CAI sitting in my living room... One month owner, 1.5 inches lower, 18s and so much more to come. Some say it's an addiction, others a way of life...My car is so quiet now, I'm dying...any other input is very welcome.

I went with Corsas and am very pleased. To be honest, I have not heard the FRP/Borla Stingers but interior drone was my biggest concern. I spend most of my time on the expressway and would rather listen to music than a droning exhaust. At speed, between 1100 & 2200 RPM, they are quieter than stock inside the car (just what I’m looking for) but step on the gas and the sound is there. Above 2500 RPM, they open up with a sweet deep growl that brings a smile to my face. Get on it off the line and they’ll turn heads. Being in my mid 40’s and leaving for work at 5:30 am, I wanted something that was both tame (deep sound but not too loud) and nasty when I wanted and the Corsas foot the bill for me.

I got mine at RacePages.com for $585 (link below). Ordered off the web, 4 day delivery, free shipping. My only complaint is I never got the e-mail confirmation when they shipped but a quick phone call was all it took.

Seattlegt, I posted a thread on another forum when I first installed my Corsas. You might find it helpful in making your decision.

Quick question for those with the Corsa axle-backs already installed, has anyone else noticed a really annoying squeak that sounds like it is coming from one of the hangers? It is not continuous, it only seems to happen when the car is going over really bumpy terrain. I have already checked all of the clamps and they are tight.

Any recommendations on how to fix this problem?

check to see if the muffler is hitting either the bolts for the hanger, or the rear bumper reinforcement. different mufflers have different hanger rods, and some bend towards the rear. if they are out of adjustment slightly, it rubs on the bumper reinforcement. also, sometimes the over the axle pipe hits the suspension too after an exhaust swap. right there where it goes over the rear suspension, next to the spare tire well.

Have you re-torqued all of the clamps (45 ft-lbs), including the ones in the mid section, assuming you had to loosen them to install the mufflers? A loose connection could squeak or creak as well.

Thanks for the advice! I figured it had to be something like that. I did notice that one of the hanger rods is very close to touching the bumper. I will have to get back underneath and check again. I am going to re-check all of the clamps again. Looks like I will be spending some time in the garage this weekend.
