Ford's new 6.2 in a stang?

you do realize Ford already has a 3.5L V6 that makes 263hp on 87 octane, right?

in what?

my original thought still stands.

ford had something going with the 5.0 and at our finest hour it was killed for the 4.6L. We have finally made great strides (took us long enough) with the modular and they want to yet again kill it for something else? makes me angry and confused. IMO if it aint broke dont fix it, there is nothing wrong with the current powerplants, they just need a little help and theyre jumping on the big boys and the big boys are going "man we didnt sign up for this ****!"

Did u not read the previous post, the new motor will be like the modulars now just with more bore, were not really destroying our existinging power plant just improving upon it. Seriousiouly if a 4.6 mod can run with a 5. 7 pushrod, a all new 6.2 should destroy current pushrods. BTW the engine is broke, it is consistently outperformed by every other truck industry out there. So Ford must do something

Don Bowles may be running one in his NMRA car. In the Nov issue of MM&FF they show his car and the "experimental" 7.0L engine he has that is supposed to be for trucks and Mustangs in the near future. Since the rumors thus far say the 6.2 can be bored out to 7.0 I believe we have an actual running version of the upcoming motor. Currently its in the 800 hp range and he's running low 9's.

I'm thinking though that this motor will probably be only in Cobra's, not GT's and it will be the 5.7 or 5.8 version whichever it is, not the 6.2 which will be for the truck. Still, the possibilities make one drool.

i have found most of my info from either forums on blueovalforums.com, few ppl work for ford in there and give away some info, otherwise the wikipedia has some info on it. None of this is confirmed by ford however, but is above rumor status, is the way i would put it. Google, 6.2 boss engine or ford 6.2 engine and you might get some better results.

Have you guys heard of the Ford xr6 ?. its only made in australia I think...makes 240 kw or 320 hp and 450nm..which is a lot of torque I guess....

its inline 6 turbo stock. Stock psi is set at 6 ...but adding hp to a already stock turbo car is easy. Exhaust, boost controller, better intake and before you know it your over 400 hp.

if only they made it in the us

I think it would be cool if they put it into a car in the us...maybe a new design...would be sweet if they put it into a stang..but that will probably never happen

look at this one on dragtimes. Basically ecu reflash and exhaust work and he ran a 12.8 car has serious potential

Ford doesn't generally have a habit of debuting new engines in the Mustang. Not saying it'll never happen, but I would expect it in something else for a few years before the Mustang.

Those have been my major sources as well. Its no secret this motor was killed in 2005 but the new regime has resurrected it.

It was resurrected because ford finally realized that the 5.4 no longer cuts it in todays increasing hp market for both trucks and with the new charger and camaro to have around 400hp, the 4.6 in the stang isn't going to cut it much longer either.

The 5.0 was rated at 225 hp for a decade... yeah, they really had something going with that one.

If these rumors are true, the 4.6L will be replaced with a bigger displacement engine. More displacement = potential for more power.
