This new engine from Ford is supposed to make it's first appearance in the 2009 F-150. It puts out at least 340hp and is 20% more fuel efficient than the current engines. The catch: it is a 6 cylinder.

The new engine comes in 6 and 4 cylinders only so I am wondering, what's in the Mustangs future?

Is that the same engine goin into the 09 lincoln mkz? dubbed the "ecoboost" its a 3.5liter twin turbo v6. I doubt that will find its way into a gt model mustang, as a v6 mustang tho it would be impressive and hopefully push ford to a 5litre v8 stang. Id like to see it find its way into fords underpowered sedans such as the taures and fusion.

I prefer a normal V8.

Turbos = heat and pressure, more expensive gas, more tech, and less reliabilty.

If I wanted better mileage (and I condsider 19-21mpg decent for the engine size and power), I wouldn't have bought a Mustang.

If I want 400+ horsepower, I would have bought a GT500 or I'll do it myself...

twin turbo V6? Sounds like a recipe for a return of the SVO Mustang.

The DI engine they are supposed to put in the 2009 F-150 is not turbocharged and it puts out at least 340hp. I'm hoping I read te article right.

Found a couple of other engines for the 09 f150, a 5.6l twin turbo or "twinforce" v8 dohc 32v pushing 540hp and 600ftlbs goin into the harley editions and a 4.4l v8 turbo diesel 32v dohc pushing 310hp and 510ftlbs, pretty impresive dont u think?

I'll put my money on a direct injection V-8 for a new Mustang, I'ld say normally aspirated 450HP with the VVT and same gas mileage we get now maybe a touch better cruising.
