Found at the bottom of the bellhousing behind the inspection plate. Only recent work was a starter a few hundred miles ago. The clatter was sudden on a corner then intermittent as the shrapnel floated around. A lot of battered converter nuts and gear teeth. Otherwise all seems well. So what was this debris before it got into the blender?

Was the inspection plate on the bottom of the bell housing ?Looks like the pull tab off some dudes jacket zipper

It would just about have to be from the starter ,but i don't recognize it

Inspection plate was in place. Maybe pieces of the old starter drive? My best guess.

Nothing i recognize, even from the starter. How does it run with the shrapnel removed?

All was good then the noise returned. Jammed up the starter for a bit. Now these were found. ??

If you have the wrong starter in the car the fly wheel chew it up .I found out there are two 4 speed starters ,one is slightly different ,just enough for the fly wheel to cut up the front bearing in the starter .It looks like that is what you have there ,pieces of the front bearing from the starter .
