I am happy to announce I have my new forged block in and the car is running sweet. (4.6 2V w/ Series II) My question is for engine guru's... How long should I take it easy on the car before running it hard? Heres what I am doing now:
Regular oil for the first 5000 miles then synth.
Varying RPM's minimal freeway time.
Short romps up to 5K RPM but no WOT.

Thanks,

Everyone has their own method of break in. My motor is almost finished. Mine should be running in the next two weeks. Most guys run regular oil for the first 1K miles and keep it under 4K. Then at 1K add synthetic and run it however you would like.

I am adding several other items at the same time like... a clutch, flywheel, cobra crank, cobra fuel tank and pumps. As for the motor, it will have forged rods and pistons, cams, springs and ported heads.

I plan on running it like this for 1 year and then adding the whipple 2300 to it.

You're exactly right. Quick rpm bursts and junk oil. Do not keep the rpm's sustained for a long period of time. You need to seat the piston rings now otherwise they will never seat. Have fun :)
