well, had a bad night last night, spun a bearing. so i am contemplating just forging my bottom end while im down there. i am on a budget, so my question is will the manley rods from an 03 cobra work? also, since im headswapped i have high compression, what kind of dish should i get on the pistons to bring it down to stock compression specs? (to open upen blower capabilities later) and last q is, a cobra steel crank is an upgrade over factory gt... correct? thanks guys

not sure what size dish you need to get the compression down. The cobra crank is a forged crank and you could run that with the 03 Cobra rods. Also I would recommend getting some CP, diamond, or manley pistons.

Yes they work but will you be able to fins a set cheaper than aftermarket rods??

The are some complete forged rotating assemblies going for $1499 on ebay. A piston rod combo goes for around $800. You can find good cobra cranks by hemselves for around $400 so you could save $200 if you scrounge parts yourself.

cobra crank is an upgrade, but dont you also have to get a new flywheel/clutch because the cobra crank is 8 bolt vs the gt which is 6?

I would give Tim (Cobra Killer) a call since he will probably have the best price.

99-00 GT's have an 8 bolt crank. all the other 4.6L GT's have 6.
