Found a good deal on a Edelbrock RPM intake, have some q's

Hi, I found a good deal on a Edelbrock rpm intake and was wondering what I could do with it. I understand it wouldn't really do well on a stock headed/cammed 302, so I planning on putting it to the side while I finish piecing together a nice h/c/i setup. What kind of numbers could this intake put out, with say AFR 165's or TFS TW heads and an unspecified cam. Would it still do alright with a 3.73 gear or would it still be too big? My goal is 300rwhp n/a, and after the h/c/i I will either put a bottle on it or a small blower. What do you guys think?

I got a Typhoon which is the same as a RPM I. It works well with stock heads, you'll notice a big difference SOTP (especially over 3000RPMs)... the stock intake is pretty restrictive, you'll see when you pull it off the engine. I ported mine to about a stage 1 port & polish and it works super good with my TFS heads that I also ported. Even with the stock cam & 1.6 RR's it screams thru 6000 RPMs no problem, max power is somewhere around 5500 I think. Actually, HOT ROD has a really good article this month where they do a 5.0 buildup with Edelbrock heads and intake... check it out its on the newsstand right now, I just read the article a couple of days ago.

Appreciate it. I think I'm going to go for it, and if it will be alright on the factory heads I may install it and see what it does until I can finish a h/c/i setup. Thanks!

If you're going to be buying the heads anytime soon, just wait and do them both at the same time... removing/installing the intake is a pain the ass

put the intake on there now. i enjoyed it when i had my stock heads/cam. It gave me alot more top end.
as for your RPM, you will see more HP from 2200--6k.

With my carbureted car, I gained 2.5-3 mph in the 1/4 with just putting a Performer RPM intake on my otherwise stock motor.

Thanks guys. I believe I'll slip the intake on and see if it can tide me over along with some 3.73 gears until I can purchase some heads and a cam.

The stock lower intake is a bottleneck flowing a 130cfm vs. the Performer RPM flowing 220+ cfm and yes it won't see full potential with a 150cfm head ports but it's still 20cfm up per runner, that is considerable. The stock TB and MAF is going to choke it off some but it will still be better. (I am selling parts, take a look)
