There's no such thing as an '82 BOSS GT. It's just an '82 GT.

Ford had an advertising scheme back in '82 that claimed "The boss is back!" but I don't believe there ever was a "Boss" Fox Mustang. It was kind of a deceiving ad. 82 was the first year for the Fox GT, IIRC.

Yeah, I haven't looked yet, but I can tell you there was no Boss anything back then. LX or GT was it. In 84 they threw on some sticker stripes and said GT350, but no Boss.

K, just looked, that hatch is wrong, and those tailights, and he's got another, newer Fox next to it, looks like the guys a parts dealer, $3300 real steep, $1300, from the pic would be more like it, 82's had no H pipe, all sortsa "work" done

The part referring to "the Boss is back" was more about the 302 than the car itself, even though the 302 never left. It was the first time in years that it came optional with a Holley 4 barrel carb etc. There were GT's before the '82 also.

Yeah, there were 302's all through the Mustang II days- in 82, I thought they had a 157 horse, 2V though, the 4 barrel was on the 175 horse 83's, but I'm not to sure-long time ago, without my books, or my medication...

"The Boss is Back" was something to grab peoples attention, to focus on the first GT since 1969.

Some of my best friends are Melvins Thats right, the Boss is back was referring to the GT tag, although, just cuz it could light the tires, it was still lacking from the Boss of the earlier Stangs(he says with great respect), sorta like, a Shelby from when Carrol(how DO you spell Caroll?) himself had anything to do with the car was a strippt down, ready to ROAD race Mustang, not at all like the latest namesake. 82 was a great starting point, that car on Craigslist is a great starting point too, if the money was right

82 was 157hp 2v carb marine cam cast manifolds, etc

83 came with the 4v carb 175 hp

There was no 302 in a Mustang in 80 or 81, just the 255

No Fox GT before '82 and the cam in '82 was from a 351W Ford Torino, not a marine engine.

Yea, that's what I thought, no Mustang II was ever called a GT. But what was the V8 Mustang called 79-81?

The Ghia and the Cobra. It's a decal option.

Ah, the asinine TRX wheel package. Probably the worst Mustang-related design Ford has ever had, second only to trying to replace the Mustang with the Probe.

'79-'81 models were either [base] (no model name) or Ghia. Both were available with a V-8 (5.0L in '79, 4.2L in '80 and '81). The '79-'81 Cobra was an option package, not a model, and came standard with the 2.3T, with the V-8 optional.

"GT" does not automatically mean "V-8". The '82 GT in Canad came standard with a 2.3T (turbo) and the 5.0L was optional. There was a Turbo GT (2.3T) in '83 and '84.

351W is not exclusive to the Torino, and all my books do say that it is a 351W cam, but from a 351W marine engine.
