i recently picked up a 96 GT from a buddy of mine. part of the deal included the trade of my old 93 F150. As i was cleaning out the bed tool box i found a set of 4 cylinder springs i took out of an old coupe.
my 96 has the classic 4x4 look right now and i cant stand it.
i was thinking about throwing in the springs to give the car a lower, more agressive stance. will thse springs lower the car any?
anyone have pics?
im thinking about cutting a coil if i need.

this is only a temporary fix until later, but i figure what the heck. ill install them myself so no money will be spent.

havent seen any pics of 4 cyl springs on 96 but they did drop my 87 quite a bit, just bought a 96 last week and had the same question.

Springs are not that expensive. Just get the new, correct ones for your car.

I saw one at a mustang show once and IMO It looked like crap.......I mean it was low, But i think It was a lil to low.....If i was you i would save and buy some Steeda Sport Springs or some Kind of after market Spring that is made for handeling....

You're really right. on my first 98, i had Pro Kits. Looked great. My 2nd 98 stayed stock. My 90 Coupe (Where the springs came from) eventually had Sportlines. the new car will soon have Sportlines too

Actually the FOX springs are a pretty popular swap for the SN-95. They give a good stance and allow a pretty decent weight transfer at the strip. Many do just the front FOX springs for that weight transfer (allowing the front to rise pretty freely), but use different springs in the back.
Here's a quick example - Madi98GT from www.modulardepot.com with FOX 4 cyl springs in the front and FRPP 'B' springs in the rear - there are several others there, but honestly, with the falling costs of coil overs, alot of people are going that route. Take a look there at the "Member's Gallery", each has a description of the car and its mods.

its more of a drag suspension set up to use the fox springs. a lot use the 4 cyl springs in the front and fox body V8 springs in the rear w/ a coil cut off.

lol, funny. I was doing a search for Fox Body springs (since i never put them in) and found my old post.

ill be swapping them in this weeekend along with 70/30 lakewoods up front and 50/50s out back. Oh yeah, stock V8 springs out back.

ill post pics so they can serve as a reference for future people.

Yeah like they said above. 4 cyl spring in the front allow good weight transfer at the track. This was done commonly on foxes but seen it on sn95 and new edge also.

i have spent the last two days doing forum searches and have answered all of my questions but one.

Are caster/camber plates required when installing these up front?

i dont think so since it was never brought up before but just wanted to throw out the question.

i kept the 4 cyl springs up front on my old coupe that i converted to 5.0. it sat BADA$$. here's a pic. btw, my car is the multicolored one. don't laugh at the paint either, she was my baby and was a work in progress!

and about the caster camber plates question, i had them and before i did the camber was really off. dont know which would be considered positive or negative camber, but the top of my wheels were in further than the bottom....so i'd recommend them.
