I saw a news report a couple years back about someone in the midwest who was able to tune a 5.0 to 500 HP but could go 1,000 miles on a single tank of gas.

The news report didn't show any tests, so I don't know if this report is accurate, since I didn't see any empirical facts to back up these claims.

Apparently, the tuner had patent-pending devices to make the engine simply more efficient, allowing it not only to achieve better performance but also better gas mileage.

Has anyone heard of this report before, and if so, does anyone know if the tuner is legitimate?

Ive heard of it. like 110 mpg or something.

IMO:

option 1) Its for real, and he's probably trying to get a patent while the oil companies try to bribe him out of it.

option 2) Its BS.

option 3) Its for real, but either really unsafe or not cost effective like our current gasoline infrastructure thats already laid out is.

I don't know if its true or not or where I heard/read it from, but there was a guy in the 50's or 60's that invented a carb/intake system that got those heavy cars back then like 70 mpg. Then the oil company or government bought all of his cars/ideas and took them to the desert and got rid of them. Then this guy that your talking about somehow finds one of these carbs and designs his own using the old one he found.

This was a couple of years ago, and there is no telling where I heard this from or if its true or not.
