Ok so i just bought my first fox body. Its a 88 gt. has e303 cam full exaust, and all the regualar bolt ons. the previous owner just got the trans rebuilt(he says) with a zoom clutch and new clutch cable. well the clutch is hard as a brick to mash and has no free travel in it at all and the trans will not go in gear sometimes and grind some. What can i do? I know you can adjust the cable on the fire wall buy its way to hard to turn and cand do it. Am i just gonna have to buy a new trans and clutch. Please help!!!

The firewall adjuster just adjusts slack in the sleeve not the cable.. If you need to adjust the cable you need one that has a threaded rod down at the fork. Otherwise your not adjusting anything but the slack in the outersleeve of the cable assembly.. Firewall adjusters are a joke.

Im not really fermiliar with these types of clutches, usually mess with hydralic ones. So wat do you mean by the for. Is that by the actual trans its self or wat. Will this make the clutch less firm?

Yeah down by the trans where the cable connects to the clutch fork.. Adjusting the clutch cable will not change the pressure of the pedal though. If your used to a hydraulic clutch, that's why it feels so hard. It's most likely not going to get any easier to press in the clutch unless you buy a kit to make it hydraulic instead of cable.

My clutch was really hard to push down. I pulled the cable out and checked it and it seemed to move freely. I went ahead and replaced it since it was out and I had the new one. Then it was a lot easier to push. Maybe they only bind under a load? Might be worth a try if the cable looks old.

thanks. its a brand new cable imma take a look in the mornin. I think the previous owner didnt do something right. thanks for the help. Another Q. though. I just ordered the sct eleminator chip are they pretty good or should i get a custom tune with all the mods done.
