Fox Body VS 3rd Gen F-Body handling

How do Foxes stack up against 3rd gen's? My Formula feels like it handles WAY better, be when I watch the CMC races, seems like the foxes don't do too bad...

PLEASE DO NOT START A FLAME WAR!

I am asking a serious question. Stock for stock, F-Bodies take the cake. With both having full suspension, how do they compare. Please come into this with a non-biased opinion.

I've owned several of both, and this has been long debated here and usually bashed by brand loyalists, BUT- Stock vs. stock the f body handles better hands down. That being said, the aftermarket for fox suspension is endless, and with a small investment they become equal fairly easily. I prefer the Ford over the GM though, for several reasons, but mostly because kicking azz on the haters is just so much fun! Nothing better than listening to someone trash your car because of brand and then destroy them.

A fox with full suspension from Maximum Motorsports, Griggs, or Team Z does not compare to anything "stock." You're talking apples and oranges.

How is it Apples to Oranges? Both cars having full suspension would be a fair comparison in my opinion.

This question, although incorrectly punctuated as a statement and incomplete, seems to ask how a Fox with full suspension compares to a stock GM F-Body. Perhaps you meant to ask how a GM F Body and a Fox body Mustang compare, given equal attention and comparable investment in their respective suspension systems?

Then again, here's another showing the mustang outperforming the 5.0 camaro in the slalom. Don't know if the 5.0s had the same suspension as the 350s, though. The mustang was behind on the skidpad .88 vs. .90. http://www.thirdgen.org/mt_july_1990_shootout_at_the_5.0_corral

I think the general consensus is that the F-body takes it in the handling department. Braking is pretty inconsistent, and acceleration goes to the Mustang. Too bad for Chevy they never offered the 3rd Gen F-body with both a 350 and a manual.

Yes back in late 85' I had a brand new 86' iroc with the H.O. L69 4bbl. 5 SPD combo rated at 190/245...car was a rare vehicle with that combo...handling was the best hands down no comparison with the 50 series gatorbacks and stock bilstein shocks..four wheel discs on the 86-87 iroc were optional..had them and braking was superior to my 87 gt.... but nt quick enuff had it one year then traded it on then new 87 'gt 5 speed and never looked back...tpi 350 stick combo would have been the ticket but the general would never do that...can you say quicker than the corvette...reason #1!!!! Btw having both cars and now another g.t. i loved the irocs handling and if i waited another year and purchased the 350/at car that would have been it for me back in the day.....

What is a stock Mustang?

I could secretly own a 4 eye Camaro. I don't know what the hell is wrong with me, but that early 80s body styling appeals to me. Unfortunately, you NEVER see 3rd gen Camaros in any sort of respectable condition.

Handling, meh, does it really matter, stock for stock? In today's age, both would be considered sloppy. If you were to modify both cars, the Camaro is a little lower and a little wider, but enough to really make a difference...? Considering the sheer availability of suspension parts for the Fox, I think it would get the edge in the end, really.

I am definitely a Fox nut. But, when I was younger I bought a new '82 Z28 ,and later owned an '85 Iroc Z.

Stock for Stock the Fbodies out handle the Fox Mustangs.

The four-link on the back of the Mustang has always been the enemy (until '05 3-link). I'm not sure, but I think the Camaro's/Firebird's have always used a 3-link with a panhard bar??? If that's so....the Mustang can't compete "stock for stock" with that. The four link, even with spherical bearings, just isn't the answer for road course handling. The Steeda 5-link or MaxMotor 3-link torque arm package would be my main choices in that department.

Now for drag racing, pick up a Team-Z 4-link package with the upper relocation bracket...and watch your 60' drop
