Folks I'm in the middle of a restomod of a 68 Coupe with 5.0 EFI, T5 with all of the basic retrofit that accomplish those swaps. My question is has anyone had experience with swapping a FOX dash assembly for the welded 68 dash. I'm a huge fox fan and would like to do something different with this 68 project. Granted the fox dash doesn't have the curves of an SN95, but I have several spare fox dashes, thus the decision to use one of them.

Any feedback would be appreciated :hail2:

I don't think it will line up with anything or look right. The later SN95 dash is probably better suited or shaped for this. I would measure the overall width and make sure that they are close to the same size. I'm sure either can be done with the right amount of desire and patience. Although I would not do it to mine, I would like to see it done. That would just prove that it is possible. It is your car, so make it how you want it.

I just read something that said that Mustang Monthly had an article about something like this, but I can't find it.

Has anyone thought about the '05+ dash for this? Since these new Mustangs are ment to resemble our 67-68 body styles, to include the interior, why not update your 68 with the modern dash. Just a thought.

i remember seeing an article in one of the mustang mags several years ago where a guy put a fox dash in an early mustang but i can't remember what year the early model was and have no clue what issue or even which mag it was. if i had to guess i'd say it was probably super ford or maybe mustangs illustrated that ran the article. it wasn't a how-to article just a feature article on the guys car. i do remember thinking it looked pretty sweet.

another option might be to use a fox fairmont dash, it's very similar to the fox stang dash but may look better in an early stang, in fact i think the car in the article i'm talking about had a fairmont dash and not a mustang dash. a fox t-bird or cougar dash might work as well

I'm w/ pyro and ROB on this one, for the most part. I don't dislike the Fox dashes, though. In fact, I love the Fox dashes--in a Fox. That dash just 'fits' that car--literally and figuratively, no pun intended.

I think that the look of the classic dash is better in the classic cars. They're more distinct and less run-the-mill than later-generation cars.

Hey guys thanks for all of the feedback.

I've planned on removing the dash structure from my parts car 68 for a rainy day anyway, so after I do that I'll try a fox dash for size just to solve my own curiosity. Once I get it in the car I'll post some shots of a rough install. That way I'll have my answer and also won't be cutting on my 68 restomod project.:nice:
