Greetings. Have a 1993 Fox Convertible. While stopped at a redlight today, the car suddenly died. Was not able to crank or have any electrical accessories work. Luckily I was able to push the car out of traffic. After sitting for a few minutes, I was able to start the car. I did notice something peculiar this morning before the car died. Turn signals would not work with the engine running but would work with the engine off key on. Any ideas where to start looking as I dont wish to be caught off guard. Thanks in advance.

There was a FREE recall on Ford ignition switches. They overheat and sometimes catch fire. That burns up the steering column and sometimes the car interior. Since this is very old information, you may not be able to get the switch replaced for free anymore. The auto parts stores sell the switches for $13-$15.

Some of the symptoms of ignition switch problems are things that don’t work or are intermittent like radio, wipers or heater.

Saleen0679 was nice enough to dig this up for us awhile back: It's a magazine article showing the ignition switch replacement.

TSB95S28NOV 95 Safety Recall 95S28 - Ignition Switch Replacement

Safety recalls do not expire. Any Ford dealer can check the VIN. Won't cost anything if never done for that VIN.
