@Justin422

Hey man, you can stroke a windsor on the cheap. And it will be strong and do well, you just have to know the tricks. Styk is right, heads are expensive. Look to spend 2k there. But look into a 393 stroker. I was seriously considering one, in fact still am, i have the block, i just have too many projects going to do it now. A 393 uses a stroker crank, don't remember the throw size, but stock length 351w rods and stock style 302 pistons. The crank can be had from summit for 400 bucks. All stock ford parts for the rest and have a 393 cid torque monster. Some afr or tfs 205 heads and go.

I really want a windsor, there are a few around my area (detroit/metro). The Coyote is very intriguing as well. I am gonna paint my Nova to get the most money out of it and wait for tax season so I can get a quick buyer. I'm so grateful for all the tips and knowledge so far guys!

Definitely take your time in the planning phase. When people get impatient and start buying parts left and right just to find out that they probably won't work well later, that's when frustration sets in and cars get sold for pennies.

No, my dad's garage is full of "good deals" just laying on the ground. Lol. He actually has a sbc he suggested tossing in the ford, lol. He is a massive Chevy guy and is a little bitter at my Chevy to ford crossover lol.

Yeah that sort of thing happens a lot. One day I'm going to take a 72 chevelle and shove a bbf into it just to piss off chevy guys.

I'm not die hard Ford by any means. I love anything with rwd and a v8, but let's face it, until the lsx broke into the scene the 302 was taking Chevys lunch money every single day.

My buddy had a 383 sbc in a notchback, he was constantly breaking stuff. But it was fast as hell.

I've owned a couple of really nice chevys i loved dearly... and in truth I'll probably get another one someday.. There just something about busting a die hard chevy boy's ass with a ford. Those guys hate on fords soooo much, rubbing their nose in it is priceless. Lol

Edit: i have a coworker who just bought a new 1le camaro and he won't run my fox. I've been begging him for weeks, but he can't bear the thought of losing. Ha

My dad has a 2001 z28 with little done to it. He thinks if it's not stock it's not right. I fought him for weeks to at least put a cold air intake on it. He just wont. I will give it to him, it's mint. But I can't wait to bust his ass.

If you want stay ford based I highly recommend a stoked 351. You can buy an already built 408 from ford Strokers.com. I think it's around 7500$ and depending on options you can make 550hp and drive it on the street without any issues.

Update: I just picked up a 5.0 H.O. It's basically a block, the guy threw in some nice shorty headers. It just needs intake, oil pan and crankshaft.

maybe it's the light but are those fairly distinct ridges at the top of the cylinders?
