fox length axles or sn95? And what else for 10in rim?

I have a set of 17x10 10th anniversary wheels that I need to get mounted on the car. The time has come to round up the necessary parts. The front end I have under control, the rear wheel wells have been rolled, and if necessary take the inner wells on a date with the ol bfh. However, which axle would be the best looking, and/or functioning fit? I do not want to do this twice. Back end is going rear disc as well. Anything else I may need to know? Thanks!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that those rims are designed for an SN95, therefore they will fit best with an SN95 rear axle and discs...

If you were to keep the rear at Fox width, those rims would have too much backspacing.

Yea, they looked real tight to the inner fenderwell just by holding them near the 4 lug mosers in there now. Would the sn95 axle make the tire protrude out from the fenderwell, or would the extra backspacing help keep it tucked?

As far as tires probably around like a 285. Not trying to go dangerously narrow, but not trying to force fit more than I have to.

The exact reason for the extra backspace on SN rims is to take up the extra length of the axles.
285s should fit good from what I have seen.
I still have the 16" Ponies on mine, but want to get into a pair of 315s out back one day.
They'll go, but I will surely lose the quad shocks, and probably need to BFH a couple spots.
I just put 315s on my son's 94 GT today, and they fit perfectly. I didn't even have to flip the quads!
I am jealous. You can't do that with a Fox.

You'll probably keep your quads so long as you flip them.

Ahhh good deal then. Going fox length had me worried but I was afraid of going too far the other way and looking like a truck with mud tires hanging out in the back . If 285's will go out back without issue, would bigger go without much massaging? The dropping of quad shocks isn't a problem, I plan on doing control arms to get the car back on the ground, and a panhard bar once I get the kinks worked out and get the cash built back up a little. Shes been under some serious surgery over the past 2 years so the first couple months of driving will be more of testing than what shes being built for.

Wihtout knowing the BS of thw wheel...hard to say.

Most 10" wheels won't fit on a Fox with SN95 axles unless the BS/offset is DEEP. Since those wheels have a dish, i doubt they are.

That means you want fox lenght axles axles or the edge of the rim will hit the fender lips.

Things get tricky when you adapt wheels and brakes for another car to a Fox.

yeah most 18x10 and 17x10.5 need fox length axles and some will need a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch spacer depending on wheel spacing.

roll the fenders, beat the inners.

to find the correct size spacer get a crapload (its a measuring term) of washers and stack them until its clears the inner and looks good on the outside.

you will need fox axles for 10 inch or bigger wheels, or with a sn95 rear end like i have go with s197 wheels, i had 9.5 inch wheels on my fox and they stuck out too far, now i have sn95 front rims and s197 rear rims

Well, I stand corrected.
I figured for sure that the extra backspace on the SN rims would take care of the extra axle width.

That means my plans may have to go back to the drawing board.

as long as you stay 9 inch or smaller and run a 275 or smaller tire you will be find with sn95 backspacing with sn95 rear end

IMO, always use fox axles, you can add spacers if necessary, if you use sn95 axles only way to take them in is different wheels.

if your buying new wheels just buy s197 rears and sn95 fronts, they are no diff in price for the replica wheels,

what about a diff off a 98 gt or cobra ? what would be the difference between a sn95 axles and 98 gt axles?

no diff all 94/98 rear are all the same length, and actually all 87/04 rear ends are the same housing just diff length axles in the 87/93 then 94/98 had a .75 inch longer axle and then 99/04 had even longer axle

86-98 housings are the same. In 99, the housings got wider and lower control arm bolt sizes changed.
