Also rear brakes sn95 or newer rear discs. Front brakes are off an 01 bullitt ala 99/01 cobras

SN95 refers to all 94-04 mustangs. That's the chassis, so you gotta be careful when using this term to describe a specific year.

All rear brakes are the same. Gt and v6 brakes from 1994 are the same as gt/v6 brakes from a 2004. Cobra brakes from 94-98 will also work.

Both use the same 38mm caliper, so it's a personal choice if you want a 10.5" solid rotor, or a 11.65" vented rotor.

Keep in mind of you use fox axles, you'll need special axle brackets from north race cars.

I understand. Yea the standard gt/v6 brakes is what I was aiming towards.

Was actually going to call nrc here in the next few days, and get brackets, axles, and cables. May just do their whole rear package and save the headache of hunting stuff down.

So it appears fox axles are the reccommended length in my case. Spacers won't be an issue, I'll order or whip some up myself.

He could also look up the instructions for the "bracket flip" and escape the expense of new brackets.

ya but the advantage of getting a diff off a 96 and up is the gear ratio right they come 327 stock? compared to the 273 's..... on the fox and the 94-95.....

That would be 99+

But, then you run into the issue of the housing on the 99-04 axle being physically wider than the 86-98 housing

I'm pretty sure '96-98 all had 3.27's. My rear I got for my car was out of a '96 'Vert and it had 3.27's in it

Yeah, 2.73 was put into many 86-95 Mustangs, but many got 3.27s. They are certainly NOT rare or even hard to find.
Doesn't matter, 3.27 is not a gear to pine over anyway. Get the right rear end, then get the right gear installed, instead of compromising for a gear ratio that is a compromise in itself.

Forgot to mention all the other Fox rears that are relatively easy to find that have 3.55 and 3.73 gears if you are dead set on using an old rear with it's stock gear set.

3.27s were available. But not the only gear. 2.73s and 3.08s were still available in certain option packages.

I guess I should market the 3.27 rear from my 87 I am about to take out...
I am doing mods on this car on the cheap, and I am putting in an entire 3.55 rear from a T-bird.

Ok So for now I'm just going with sn95 axles ... Does anyone know what ur car to take the drums from ? I don't remember if it's a ranger of what ? Thanks

If you go with SN axles, you will have to use the SN discs for sure.
The rear space for the brakes is different between discs and drums.
That is why you have to modify the discs to use them on Fox length axles, which are rear spaced for drum brakes.
As far as I know, you can modify the discs to work with the drum axles, but not drums to work with disc axles.

This suggestion makes a lot of sense. I have been planning my rearend decissions around the exact wheels that I want to run, right now. But in thinking, I may get tired of those wheels and if I have closed some doors with axle choices then I may regret the move. Now, the questions is: What's the downside if any on using spacers - in my case my car will see only street duty...

If you get to the point of rolling the fenders, there is some really good how-to stuff out there concerning using a wooden baseball bat and rolling the car back and forth with the bat resting on the tire and the underside of the quater fender panel. There's more details to it, like having a heavy buddy put weight on the backhalf to apply compression.

Also, advice is to NOT get too agressive with the sledge hammer under the inner wells. Personally, I don't like the idea of NOT running my quad shocks but I hear you can't avoid removing them if you run 10" rims (period).
