Look out

Someone ground a hole in their vc just a week or so.

Is your concern where one of the Alt electrical connection bolts touches the front of the vc?

How much room do you need to clear?

When I did mine I just barely touched.

My fix was to put one very thin washer on each alt mounting bolt thus shimming the alt forward for things to clear.

When I had that problem, I just made up a little spacer that rotated the alternator toward the pass. side. I think it was the voltage regulator that hit on mine, but it's been quite a while since I saw it.

I didn't have to grind anything due to the alternator. Just swing the alternator open t get the VC on. The bolt pretty much just touches the VC though.

On another note, I had to grind a bunch off the casting bosses and oil baffle inside both covers though. The rockers were actually hitting the bosses and the oil baffle.

I just loosend the bracket bolts and pulled out the bracket alittle and then when the valve cover was down it fit back and had plenty of room once down.

I have not put them on yet to see if they hit at all. I'm painting them and wanted to make the mods before the paint. Doesn't the fill tube need to be bent also?

The insides have already been ground down for rocker clearance by the last owner. Can oil be sucked up through the fill tube with the bathel missing?

Another word of caution. Some have broken the brittle cast Aluminum vc by trying to force over the fill tube.

I've seen some reposition it slightly by cut and weld. I used a hose and clamps to redo mine.

You might get a bit I guess
