FOX vs SN95 Whats the Diff?

Weight and sn95's do run 12's after that just most people suck at driving...look at killer he has a vert with H/C/I running 12.3 in a SN95 vert
You watch - a few days from now, Killer is going to be posting his new track times. They are going to be very close, if not into the 11's. ;)

oops sorry about that guys

As a previous owner of a 95 GTS, the differences were the lack of the following:
power windows, power seat/leather,fog lights, rear spoiler, rear window fogger, manual locks, cruise control. So figure on the conservative side of about 150-200 lbs over an optioned out GT, which from what they say should be worth about a tenth in quarter mile.
Obviously I clicked on the wrong thread here huh,LOL, sorry. :rlaugh:

Cause alot of people I read on here got alot of stuff done and I'm out running them......there is a couple folks on here that got H/C/I and only getting a mid to high 13's and that is really dissappointing.
It's mathematics. With equal power & weight, there's no difference between a Fox & SN95. But there are a lot more Fox owners than 94/95 owners, and as a group the Fox owners are more likely to be drag racers ('cause you wouldn't drive a Fox for it's good looks or handling :stick: ). There are plenty of 94/95's making very good times, so the point is provable. There are also quite a few Foxes doing mid-13's with 300 rwhp, I've seen a bunch...

Here are a couple more differences
1)disk brakes in the rear
2)rear end is wider
3)MAF uses a 4 bolt flange
4)Valve covers are stamped steel, same bolt pattern just cheaper looking
5)I think the cam profile is different(I could be wrong on this one)

im talking engine block here, and yes my sn95 gets all its power after 4k rpm, thats y its not worth fixing when i can get my 88 to go faster

Step away from the vehicle.

My car is a cobra and it did come stock with the GT40 heads and Cobra intake. It has an x-pipe, cat back and FIPK and it has lots of torque at low rpm.

When I moved it to it's new garage last weekend, I had a hard time keeping it under the limit (with no bumper, right front fender and headlights, you don't want to get pulled over for speeding). That takes torque because I never had the car above 2500 rpm.

Now, I have not had it on the dyno or taken it to the track, but I can tell it is the fastest car I have ever owned, and I have not opened it up yet. It is faster than the '67 GT I owned, and that car had a blueprinted 289 with a nice cam.

Take your car to the shop, because something is broken.

the sn95 may have a bit more hp, but not that much, and cuz it weighs more that doesnt help either. the fox has a lil less hp but weighs less giving it the advantage. the fox is faster. ya there a bunch of differences that i didnt mention b4, but they have the same engine (block and pistons) but the sn95 has like i said b4 the gt-40 heads and cobra intake. im talking about the 5.0 sn95 for someone that asked b4.

Are you blind? COBRA's have the GT40's and cobra intake. I know, I have a COBRA.

GT's have ET7E? heads and a Tbird style intake that is shorter and the tube that connects the throttle body to the upper plenum is curved towards the front of the car.

If you have a GT and it has GT40 heads and a Cobra intake, they were added at some point.

If you have a GT with GT40 heads and a Cobra intake and you don't have power below 4,000 rpm, something is broken.

Take it to a shop because I have a feeling you are dangerous with a wrench.

i never said my fox has gt-40 heads, i said the cobra came with gt-40 heads and a cobra intake plus some other things, the point i was trying to make is that my fox can out run my cobra any day of the week cuz there both stock. try reading, i also said id keep the cobra cuz its a chick magnet but id rather put my mony into my fox cuz the facts its lighter i can get it to go faster.

Stock on stock you cobra with a good driver will beat a fox and an sn95 5.0 does not have to be a cobra. And dont tell people to read, read what you wrote you said an sn95 has more horse power and is heaver then a fox, yeah its heaver but it rated at 215 horse power (if you have a gt) which is less then 87-92 mustangs. I live mustangs and know kids with civics that know more than you.

guy, why dont you change your story again?....apparently you have realized that you have been :owned: more than once in this thread and are trying to save face...this is a thread about the diffs between Fox cars and 94-95's...you said 94-95's have GT40 heads and a Cobra manifold and you were wrong...ONLY the Cobra's had those...and the Cobra and GT have IDENTICAL bottom ends (block and rotating assembly) and so did the later Fox cars...and if your STOCK 88 GT(or LX 5.0, doesnt matter) is that much faster than your stock Cobra, your snake is sick, VERY SICK....cuz stock Cobra's should be good for low 14's (if you can drive) and stock Fox's are not that fast...

Edit: hey jg where in Brewster are you??...i live in Poughkeepsie and go to school in Newburgh so im not that far from you...

For what it's worth...

I just read an article today in MM&FF where they weighed a fox GT, and it came out to 3283 (with 2 gallons of gas in the tank). So the next time someone says fox bodies are a couple hundred pounds lighter than an SN95 GT ... not always.

You said SN95, not cobra, you need to learn how to type.

ok my bad, i was thinking the sn95 was the cobra. my thoughts were going by the 95 cobra 5.0 has 240 hp and 285 torque, with 0-60 times of 6.3 sec where my 88 gt 5.0 is 225 hp and 285 torque with a 0-60 time of 5.7sec. from experence i still know my fox is faster and nothings wrong with the cars, i just know the fox is a tuna can and it alot quicker.

you can't compare the HP numbers form the 92 down with 93 up numbers the ratting system change....and your 5.7 0-60 time you pulled out of your ass and the cobra time came out of a mag if you you look a 88gt 0-60 time up from a mag you would find a best of 6.5-6.7

correct, the 93 hp rating was rated a different way.

who cars about 0-60 times....that all depends on the driver's/car's ability to launch...doesnt really shoe us much....check out the 1/4 times...i bet the SN95 Cobra should be faster than an 88GT

I believe they are the same. Yeah "blkstangman88" you need to get your story straight. SN95 is a model code, kinda like calling a 79-93 mustang a FOX. First off a 88 GT is not that light, now a 88 LX on the other hand is. The Fox GT's have the extra body parts and weigh it down. Unless you have a vert 95 COBRA then its not that much of a difference between the two. Also you not making any power till 4000 RPM on your Cobra is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard, no flame intended. But for real, I made max HP at 4800 on a stock H/C/I GT with a OR H-pipe, and underdrives. I made max torque at 3000 RPM and that is what you feel the most in your pants. I think what the problem is that you have no clue what mods are done to your 88. If you have gears then that would be a world of difference. Adding this, I beat a 90 lx 5 speed with the same exact mods as me. I also beat a 95 cobra that had exhaust, this what when I had just a OR H-pipe and underdrives. Sorry if I came off as a D**K, but you need to get you info straight before you start defending yourself in a argument you no nothing about.

:rlaugh: Maybe with slicks and a 5000 RPM clutch dump...

When I had my 1990 GT, I raced plenty of 94 GT's and I can tell you, the Fox certainly wasn't any faster. An LX, sure, it's lighter by 100 lbs, but to really get light you have to have a notch. The hatch weighs quite a bit more.
