FOX vs SN95 Whats the Diff?

Here are what I acn think of as the main differences:

Fox weighs a couple hundred punds less

Different intake and throttle body ( 10 less HP I think)

Different computers

and the rest is mostly cosmetic and having to do with the difference in body styles, interiors, etc.... But I am assuming that you just wanted the engine differences.

The water pump is not interchangable between the two.
The A/C compressor and P/S pump are in reversed positions on the SN95.
The Belt tensioner is located between the alternator and smog pump which is different from the Fox body stangs.
Throttle body and egr valve is different configuration as well.
SN95 stangs use different headers, mid-pipe (H-pipe) and cat back.
The T-5 input shaft is longer on the SN95.

Another difference in the intakes is the connection to the throttle cable, which is why you need an adapter to use a 87-93 intake on a 94-95... and you can use 94-95 headers on a 87-93 with the right engineering (a.k.a. a copper plug for the egr) :D

I always heard that the computer fuel and timing curves were the real problem on the SN cars. Of course, mucking up the upper intake probably didn't help. Why they didn't make the hood 3/4" higher and use the existing manifold is beyond me.

I don't believe the intake change caused any change in horsepower -- the restriction is in the lower intake, not the upper.
I'm not so sure its even that....Its been discussed thousands of times that even modified SN's put down slightly lower numbers than Fox cars...if the problem was the lower intake than adding an aftermarket manifold would totally throw any reason for the fox cars making more power out the window...im begginning to believe its the TB setup on our cars...not the manifold itself....id still love to see someone do back to back dyno tests running once with the adapter setup...then switching to the FOx setup and running again...id be very interested in seeing if there is a gain....

the only differents between the sn95 and a fox is intake and heads. the 95 came with gt-40 heads and a cobra intake, mabe a diff cam, or it has about 40hp more. BUT cuz the 95 weighs a few hundred lbs more the power to weight ratio is worse resulting in the fox to go faster and accelerate better, plus the 95 doesnt get any power till about 4k rpm's. i know this cuz i own a sn95 and a 88 gt 5.0 and the 88 kills my sn95 in a heart beat. knowing the sn95 is a magnet for chicks, ill keep it, and use the 88 for racing.

:bang: umm the 95 COBRA came with GT-40 heads and a Cobra Intake....but not the GT....and what do you mean the 95 has no power till 4k??...that would imply the 95 has about 1500(TOPS) usable RPM's in stock form...the motors of the 94-95 cars are nearly identical with the late FOX cars....

Your thinking of the cobra with gt40 heads and cobra intake the 93 cobra had the same heads and intake. Also sn95's have electric fans, better supension and better brakes.

im talking engine block here, and yes my sn95 gets all its power after 4k rpm, thats y its not worth fixing when i can get my 88 to go faster
im confused...you mentioned that the 95 has GT-40 heads and a Cobra Intake...and now you say your talking about the engine block??...if you wanna get rid of that 95 you can drop it off at my house...

If there is not HP differences in the fox and sn, then why after you do a H/c/i on a fox body they run mid 12's, and if do a H/c/i sn you get a low 13?

Weight and sn95's do run 12's after that just most people suck at driving...look at killer he has a vert with H/C/I running 12.3 in a SN95 vert

Cause alot of people I read on here got alot of stuff done and I'm out running them......there is a couple folks on here that got H/C/I and only getting a mid to high 13's and that is really dissappointing. But maybe there is hope for mid 13's on stock heads
