So what is the motor craft plug number and which heads do you have again?

I’m not sure of the number. I have GT40 heads (not the P heads).

Alrighty, I can confirm a new PCM solved all my issues. Crazy how that works.. Anyways, only things I have left are an exhaust leak I’m trying to fix and with these aftermarket headers, that’s proving to be a pita. I do have an oil leak inbetween the pan and the transmission. It’s very steady, and it’s keeping me from driving the car. Sound like a rear main? It isn’t an obvious pan leak, it looks more like it’s coming from directly inbetween.

Here’s a photo for reference. This leak really only drips when the car is running, and it is really bad. Leaves a puddle every time. This is right between the oil pan and the flex plate

That’s where I’m putting my money aswell. Gonna get it pulled this weekend. Final piece of the puzzle and it’ll officially be fixed and ready to drive after 2.5 long years

Check the back of the lower intake and make sure its not leaking there and running down the back of the block. Not super likely and my bet would also be on the rear main.

I’ve tried clocking them in the past and haven’t had any luck, I’ll try it again tomorrow when I get it put back together. There’s been a nasty vacuum leak coming from somewhere towards my lower intake. My smoke machine couldn’t find it but that’s where it sounds like it’s coming from. I’m taking it apart down to there and I’m gonna put it back together and see if the leak disappears.

What is the best option to do a smoke test on the exhaust just put the tip in the tailpipe and wrap a Rag to keep the smoke in ?

Yes I heard a lot about that dreaded BBK whistle to so I stayed away and installed a 70 mm accufab throttle body. No problems at all.

The only vacuum that goes into the reservoir in the passenger fender connects to the solenoids and the EGR valve itself. There is no vacuum going anywhere else from it.

If the smog pipe that goes to the back of the heads is it easy clean the carbon out? or is it just better to order a new one from LMR? and install it? I'm getting thermactor codes and I think it is cuz the smog pipe Is plugged up. Changed my EGR Valve and it was plugged solid installed a new one I am getting better gas milage now.

Instead of smoke, make up a solution of soapy water and put in a spray bottle.

Soak the exhaust with the solution (cold car, of course), start it and look for:

Alrighty, as of the last time this car ran, the problem was still solved by the computer. I pulled the transmission to fix an oil leak, and after getting everything put back in when I turn the key, I can hear the starter spinning but it isn’t grabbing anything. Through the bellhousing plate I can tell the flywheel was installed correctly. Starter is a couple month old high torque mini starter so it shouldn’t be that. Could it be a wire got messed up? Trying to get this fixed asap.

Check the trigger wire, the smaller of the two connected to the starter, one end should be connected to the solenoid on the inner fender, power to that wire kicks the starter drive into the flywheel, you should hear it move.
I think.
That's the way mine worked.

I haven’t checked the wire for any damage, but the starter does engage. When you turn the key you can hear it spinning, so it’s getting power. But it isn’t conmecting to the flywheel for some reason..

If all the wiring is as should be then it sounds like the starter is spinning but not pushing the starter gear outwards to engage the flywheel. This is typically a fault of the starter bendix drive. Pull the starter and take it to the parts store for testing to confirm.

That's why I said to apply power to the small wire so you could hear that the starter drive is or is not engaging the flywheel.

There has been a large oil leak dripping right on it for a while if that could cause it. But I’m wondering about what could have caused this since it was running great before I pulled the trans, and now it doesn’t start correctly. Could something I did with pulling the transmission cause this?
