Okay, I am underway with my latest project and I thought I would post up a little bit about it here.

A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a 1989 5.0 LX notchback with the intent to make it my daily driver. However, when I say daily driver, I don't mean beater, so I resolved to make the car into something I would really enjoy driving to and from work every day.

It started out as a suggestion on what color I should go with when I repaint the car (someone suggested Dark Highland Green) which led me to ask myself, if DHG, why not continue the Bullitt theme outright and apply it to a fox body. Well, to help get my mental picture into something I could visualize, my friend, Steve Longacre offered to produce a rendering of the concept for me. Here is the result.

If the completed project turns out anything near what this rendering looks like, I will be one happy fella. In any case, the project is underway, so wish me luck.

Looks nice. Subtle. But y'know, it just won't be complete until you throw in a T-5 conversion and have a Bullitt shift knob to crank through the gears with.

Nice... I'd love to see that done with a hatchback. Ford should have offered a Bullitt foxbody from the factory.

The car is actually in the final stages of a manual conversion as I type this. There was no way I was going to keep the auto.

As good as the picture looks, and this is only because I'm nuts, but I'd leave that notch alone. I know its crazy...but thats my dream car. Original Grey notchback, I'd sell my soul or trade my regatta blue notch without thinking twice for one of those....with cash on top...even if the other one was in worse shape.

But yes, the bullitt idea would look great.

Either way (ahem...especially as it is), I'm in love...

I always had a thing for the Bullitt Mustangs and the original Fastback from the movie! Good luck with the project! Should look sweet when it is done!

Congrats on the '89! I've seen the Cobra conversions performed on the coupes, i.e. Cobra wheels, snake/Cobra emblems, Cobra tailight lenses...however I haven't seen any Bullitt conversions. Post pics as your project progresses.

That is an awesome concept, and I say go for it!! I have always like the idea of a Fox Bullitt or even a Fox Mach 1 etc. If you are painting the car, and doing body work, make sure that you french in the proper round gas cap. That would be a really nice touch, and the details make the car, IMO. Those crappy square gas filler covers that are made to look like the round ones, look like absolute shiite, again, IMO. If you could find a real wrecked Bullitt, the interior out of one would be sweeeet!

We'll see how long that lasts! I figure if I do the car right, clones will begin popping up all over the place within a year. heck, I bet someone saw this post and started theirs already!

Oh, well. A lot of the comment/suggestions in this thread are already in the plans, along with a few others. Here is a list of the major stuff that will be going into the car. I am sure I have forgotten stuff, but you can get the general idea:

-Custom “retro-look” gauge overlays
-Satin silver “Bullitt” accents (i.e. shift knob, door lock plungers, etc.
-TMI Products “Mach 1” black leather seat upholstery w/custom “Bullitt 5.0” stitching
-Round “Bullitt” gas cap door
-Cervini’s “Heat Extractor” hood
-Bullitt brake upgrades including 5-lug swap
-17x9/17x10.5 “Bullitt” wheels
-“BULLITT” emblem on the left rear deck lid.
-Tubular k-member w/ front coil-overs
-Griggs “street performance” rear suspension w/coil overs

ive thought of that, going off of the man here who has the super clean black notch with tinted windows and bullits. shouldnt be too hard, t5, bulitt shifter, alum gas tank cap, and the highland green paint.
