The gas tank connector you speak of is the round plug behind the rear bumper? Or do you need to drop the tank to see the actual connector you refer to?

FWIW, for the 2+ hours it has been sitting she starts & runs fine now.....also no other connectors were touched other than the IFS & the FPDM during all of this. So far the only conclusion i have come to is the fact that putting 12v+ directly to the pump to "prime" it somehow has made everything work normally now....

Upon a key cycle you can again hear the fuel pump for the few seconds as it should. Could the pump be very well on its way out? Who knows??

If you are getting sporadic lean conditions or misfires it very well could be the fuel pump. Or something causing a battery drain which leads to less than needed voltage reaching the fuel pump maybe.

But since you seem to have fixed it somehow, I would think about purchasing a SVT Focus pump to hold onto just in case it is the pump. The SVT Focus pump usually runs around $100, which is much cheaper than the Ford replacement Mustang GT pump by about $100. Plus if you plan to do any large power mods, you already have more than enough fuel unless you are looking for the high 500's hp wise!

I believe this is one of them 3S4Z-9H307-BC usually around $100. I bought mine from eBay seller Kleistang or something of that nature, but he no longer has them for sale. Maybe send him a message through eBay. I paid around $80 with him through eBay.

Small update....car is still starting but some AM's it seems labored. Not taking any chances since Ill be driving to PA in a few months.
Ordered up a new Motorcraft stock pump (no plans to modify this car any time soon) & filter from Rock Auto.
Undecided if I want to attempt replacing it on my back or paying my friend who owns a repair shop $150 to put it in....
Wish me luck!

Ford fuel pumps

Replaced the fuel pump in my 1999 GT in April and it ran an 1/8 of a mile down the road and dieded. Got it towed back home so thinking that maybe the fpcm is bad? Not so, went to the Ford dealer and found out the Ford has a recall on the fuel pumps made from April of 2010 to April 2011. Mine was made in 9-9-2010. Sucks having to drop the tank 2 times!!!
