well ive been to 2 frame shops so far, and both have told me that my suspension is the problem for my car leaning... I know that a few mustangs also have this problem, and ive been trying to fight it off for awhile with little to no luck... i dont know how these shops can just look at my car an say its the suspension when they dont take any measurements or anything so im gonna try one more sometime next week... Is there any way that my torque boxes could be bent?? the whole rear end is shifted an inch left and an inch forward... literally the whole pass. side of the car is an inch short and higher!!! im running out of ideas... sorry for the long post, but its really starting to tick me off... esp. after i did all the body work and got it painted..

well u have to consider the fact that your suspension system holds your car up.

i would highly recommend trying to change some parts out to see how it goes. start with your axle, get yourself some upper/lower subframes and if any cash left, buy some springs. this may be a long shot but your rear control arms could be buckled somewhere due to crappy design. you will not know for sure whats wrong until u climb under there and see.

yeah ive been under it about a thousand times... took dimensions off of everything thing... i pulled the drivers side control arm off to see if maybe the bushings where bad, and they werent... gonna try to tackle it after work...

I havbe this problem too. From the rear it looks like the driver side is lower. Put in new spring and it still looks lower. All the fender lips measure the same so I'm pretty lost. It may be just me but it looks like that in pics too.

I have the same problem as you.... my drivers rear tire is almost flush with the lip of the fenderwell, My passenger side tire is in about 2 inches. So my car dog tracks a bit.
MY Right hand tourque box looks it was ripped right off and welded in there wrong, she's a lil twisted up under there. I think im gonna retire this 87 gt and get a lower mileage decent one that has not seen any bad wrecks. Probably this spring ill be laying down 5-6k for a decent one(only paid $1200 for this one).

My car has a lean.

I've replaced most of the suspension parts with good aftermarket pieces and it still leans a bit to the left
The right side has always been an inch higher that the left REAR.

New springs (pigtails in proper position)
New Struts and shocks
New Control arms

Removed all spring insulators

Right now I have the car gutted and it still leans

I think the uni body was just made wrong at the factory so I gave up on fixing the lean
The torque boxes are in great shape and it has never been wrecked before

If I were ever going to buy a FOX Mustang I would check for the lean first before buying it.
The car drives straight and have no alignment problems so I've learned to live with it.

i second the checking for leanage when purchasing another one.... i got up under there agian today with my dad... he seems to think that my mounts on the rear end are twisted down and to the right pulling the whole rear end to the right!! its def. not right... i can deal with the leaning, but i cant deal with the rear end sitting funny.... yet another frame shop will be getting a visit this week sometime.. the last one i took it too was so suprised that he said he didnt wanna touch it for warranty purposes...

Sounds like something is bent. The differences in wheelbase dimensions from side to side are an indication. Get a tape measure and do some comparison measurements from each side of the undercarriage to the suspension components. Sometimes a plumb bob and marks on the floor will be easier. If the frame shop did not put it on their lift and take some measurements, they could surely be wrong.

yeah i gotta work 10 hour days this week so i wont be able to take it to another one till im off next monday.. i called around earlier and the one im gonna take it to said that they def. think somethings bent an to bring it buy so they can put it on there machine... well see what happens...

this lean is very common with stangs. Do a search on this topic. Many, many people have swapped out every part on the rear end and never figured out the problem.

Get some adjustable rear control arms, and just adjust the lean out.
