frame to engine mount bracket and gasket ?s

the 89 5.0 HO motor is stripped bare, painted and ready for completion.

for putting the heads, intake manifold, and waterpump back on, am i going to need to use adhesive on the new gaskets? i was looking at some tips from the Fel-Pro gasket kit i ordered and it says to use an adhesive. if i do need this, where could i get some around town? auto-zone, pep-boys, checkers, etc? or do i need to order it online?

now to the mounting question. i bought <a href="http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PTP%2D6%2D503&N=700+4294908331+4294908282+4294925081+4294840126+115&autoview=sku">these mounts</a> and cant figure out if i need new frame mounts to apply to these. i had a straight 6 and dont think the old frame mounts will work

any help is much appreciated

Dont use adhesive on the head gaskets (bad idea). There should be some pins that go in and hold the gasket in place while you place the head. The gaskets have a softer material on them which bonds to the deck and the bottom of the head. In the directions for the intake gaskets it says to use some sealant to place the gaskets but I use it to make sure to seal the whole gasket to the head and the intake. Any auto parts store has it. Make sure to get the black atv (i think) sealant. It is the high temp sealant. You will definitely want to use plenty of it on the end seals. I used it on the water pump too and have not had a leak yet. Good luck

You have to get new frame mounts to use the V8 motor mounts. My 68 was also a 6 cylinder conversion, so I had to go through this too. If you have any questions on the swap, please P.M. me, I love helping people out with this, as do a few others here that have done the swap.

Oh yeah, the best intake gasket to get (IMO) is the fel pro ms93334. It now comes with rubber end seals with little lips on the sides of them so they don't squeeze out when you tighten the manifold. The end seals install dry. Just put a thin bead of silicone around the water ports on the gaskets and at the corners where the gaskets and end seals meet. That's how I do it anyways, and never have any problems.
