Started and completed the one thing that I was really dreading - pulling everything out of the engine compartment / the harnesses back / breaking down the dash etc for painting the engine bay- but it went ok .....labeled everything etc ...some highlights
Here's how it started or left it last

After taking the steering out / heater box and pulling it all back through fire wall - ...ugh...what have I gotten myself into? ....although I didn't 'break' (1 ) one connector - used electrical stickers to label all connectors

Will probably soda blast this and paint it - no one will ever see it - but I can't put something back in w/rust on it - dropping the rest of the frame when I replace the automatic pedal assembly with a 5spd pedal system

Will put in a new heater core / clean it up - does anyone think it's wise to replace the motor for the blower as well while it's out?

A little clean up and I'm finally going to be starting something I know how to do well - bodywork....the brake lines / throttle linkage and speedo are gone after the picture....

I wouldn't personally. Ya gotta stop somewhere. If it worked let it be. Easy enough to change later if it ever poops.
I think your 100% correct - the heater core should be good enough.....besides out here in AZ - the heat literally only has to go 'on' for maybe (2) weeks total - and that's only in the mornings.....thanks for the input...
