Ok this is what happened, I was at the gas station filling up my car and some guy came up to me and said

"Hey bro, you want a free home entertainment system?"
I was like no thanks. Then I proceeded to finish pumping my gas and he asked again
"C'mon it free" I said "If it were free you wouldn't have a problem getting some else to take it offf your hands"
Then he was like "Fine, but I only wanted like $300 for it, thats it man"
Then I said "Yeah Ok so much for being free buddy" I got in my awesome winter beater and left.

This is the second time someone has offered me a "free" system like that.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

we get the guys in white vans trying to sell speakers at "unbelievable" prices...they would stalk you in the Mall parking lots and follow you to your cars. So one day i said ok i wan't to hear them before i buy them. The guy was like i can't come to your house...i said no no no we can do it in my truck :) i hooked his junky speaker up to my Rockford Fosgate Power series sub amp and tore his junk up...me and my friend laughed at him as i told him his "1000 watt" speakers just got smoked by 1000 watt amp.....have a nice day. He just had a stupid look on his face while he put them back in his van. We laughed at him the whole time we drove away.

I few guys in my squadron did a similar thing. They thought they were getting infinity tower speakers, from the back of a guy's truck. But yeah, they blew being hooked up to a 200 watt home stero amp, while playing "welcome to the jungle" during a "beating" session.

eh, i bit once. i didnt pay much though, about $100. they wanted $300 though.

i bought them, got home and looked up the brand name online, and instead of a company, i was directed to a scam report site. the exact scam they sold me on, was exactly the same story in every state. blah blah we work for a home theater company, accidentally got an extra pallet during pickup of parts, want to sell them instead of reporting to my boss because he'll keep the $$, we sell cheap, what can you afford. they even have a catalog page for it to make it look real. they were 2 guys in a cadillac escalade.

the stuff is nice looking on the outside, but the inner core is garbage.

i already have an awesome speaker setup in my house, but i was thinking i could have sold them for half the price they claimed they were worth and buy something for my girl with the money. i ended up selling them to a co worker for $25, and he ended up loving them. i bought myself a sandwhich instead.

ive been confronted by people selling this same scam twice since, and even by a kid i actually knew.

some guy did that when he was trying to "give" me a free entertainment system out of the back of his van

i just told him to **** off because he had already approached my dad 3-4 times

Some of those "back the van" people that try to sell you **** for real cheap actually work for big stores - they sell their closeout stuff that way, trying to undercut the smaller local shops to force them outa business. A buddy of mine bought his setup through his friend, who happened to work as one of those guys for a short period of time. I'm sure most of the time though, it's all scammage lol.

When a guy approaches you like that. Stop what you're doing, let out a big sigh and say....."Listen buddy, do you make it a habit of approaching an off duty police officer in parking lots trying to sell stolen goods? Got any ID?!?"

At the very least, you'll be able to learn how fast they can make a get away. :D
