I have a 408 windsor that has lost a freeze plug under acceleration at high RPM. The first time was on the passenger side rear plug that went out. I pulled the motor had a machine shop clean and replace all the plugs. A few weeks later it happened again, this time on the drivers side rear, also under acceleration. The motor has about 200 miles on it total.
After another replacement I have pressure tested the coolant system at 20psi and held it for 20 minutes, no leaks anywhere. Checked the radiator for any exhaust blowing into the coolant (Cracked head or gasket), nothing found.
I know on the old boss 302 they acutally installed threaded plugs in the freeze/casting plugs and am considering it, however I am not sure if anyone has has this problem and if so has fixed it.
Thanks and hope someone has some ideas.
