Ok i'm going to be pulling my heads to put in new head gaskets and i'd like to do what i can to fix them up/rebuild them. I don't have alot of money so going out and buying a new set of heads is out, but i'd like to do what i can to clean them up and get them back to like new. What all can i do? thanks

The dilema here is that having someone work on stock heads is expensive for what they are.

IMO doing it yourself is out of the question, screw up the seat pressure and your car could run worse not better.

Valves, seals, locks, springs, retainers all cost money.

If you don't think there is anything truely wrong with the heads, just leave them alone.

unfortunately with them off, you really aren't going to notice anything. There's nothing to see. And even if you did get them apart, more than likely you still wouldn't know what to look for, as far as wear and tear.
Not an insult, it's just headwork is usually best left to experts.
