Second run of the night about 20 or 30 yards from the finish my car backfires and hasnt run right since....i can barely keep it running and it wants to backfire all the time now, you have to keep it around 3 grand to keep it running and it even misses then.....its getting fuel, the plugs look alright, the valves are opening/closing, the only thing i can think is the carburetor? Its weird if im in the throttle it almost seems alright but if i keep it steady or decel it wants to die right now. any help would be great.

btw i ran a 13.3 at 100mph(since i let off after the backfire) with a 2.1 60ft.

oh and when i say it wants to backfire ever since, i mean out through the carburetor. not out of the tailpipes like it did on the track, it almost seems like my timing is wack but i havnt messed with it since it was set perfect.

Sounds like you bent something related to the valve train. Check for bent pushrods and valves.

If the hold down screw was not tight it can wiggle loose.
If that happens than the distributor can move freely.
