Frieght Trucks???

Dude...how fast are those things.....some trucker was trying to race me....so i gave him a little gas nothing big but duuude...this guy whizzed past me and it wasn't haulin' anything...i know that these things make huge amounts of torque....but i was wondering if anyone could give me more details...because right now i feel sooooo slow....hahaha.....

i'm going to go out on a limb and say most of them are governed to like 70-75, i can't really guess a true top speed though

70 -75 ha man I have been up I 40 in the hills. The speed limits 75 near Albuquerque and those trucks with loads fly by me. I asked this red neck guy how fast they go and he claims he can roast the tires threw 4 gears without a trailer, and said they go 120 or more with a load but idk 80000lbs is the load limit.

with those trucks all you gotta do is unlpug the govener and you can go as fast as the truck will let you go. its real simple.

Without a load they're actually pretty fast from a roll.

they are governed at 75, but if the just clutch it, the weight takes them to high speeds.

Heck yeah those things can be fast. A buddy of mine started working for an unnamed commercial food hauler, and took me around in his truck one day without a trailer. IF you can shift the shifters fast enough, you can haul SERIOUS ass off of a dead stop. I was pretty shocked. Even did a sweet 4 wheel burnout through an unknown amount of gears. Guess it was that turbo that was about the size of my head helping out a little.

without a trailer they are pretty damn quick. Could prob smoke ricers with them.

Some of them have 1000 ft-lbs or torque or something like that

They don't need ALL the gear changes when the truck is empty or no trailer.

Ever see a fully loaded truck struggle through 5 or 6 changes just to hit 10MPH, and then you might see another that isn't as heavy go through 3 or 4 to get to 40MPH.

Just cuz they have 24 gears doesn't mean they use them all every time

i have seen them dyno at 425h.p and anywhere from 1,300 t.q. to about 2,000

I have a 01 GT.....but this guy gunned it from a role....i was in fourth at 1500 RPM...i would have dropped down a gear...but i was shocked....btw...i dont street race....i just was gonna goose it because this trucker honked at me because i was cruisin at the speed limit
