What is the best way to clean all the old grease from the spindles and other hardware?
I figure some low lint shop paper towels and paint thinner and maybe some brake parts cleaner(?).
I know I have to keep everything super sterile so I'm worried about paper towel lint.
THANKS!

Find someone who works in a cleanroom and get them to steal some lint-free towels for you.

whats the problem with a little lint? these are roller bearings, not close tolerance engine bearings.
I have always just wiped out what I can with a an old rag. Never leaves visible lint, and I have never had to do the job a second time.
Besides, if you use the right grease, it has fibers in it which draw the grease through all the rotating surfaces. Just look at the stringy trail it leaves as you pull some out of the jar.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm in the middle of it right now, and glad to see your posts. I got some Scott nearly lint-free paper towels at Home Depot and I'm using Valvoline synthetic grease I had from fixing my Crown Vic's window motors.
Thanks again!
