Front Bumber License Plate

How many of you have a front bumber license plate? When my sister bought her 05' V6 the dealer asked her if she wanted one and made her sign a waiver. Did anyone decline the front license plate and if so, have you had any trouble with the law? I was thinking of declining myself.

By the way, the reason she bought a Mustang was becasue I went down to order a 06' Satin Silver GT Premium model for which I already have a VIN for. Is it safe to assume I will be getting my car by the end of next month?

When I ordered mine, I told the dealer specifically to leave it off. I didn't have to sign anything. I don't have any license plate on either of my cars and have never been pulled over for not having it.

I also instructed my dealer not to attach a plate frame on the front of my GT.

I currently dont have one on the front of my MINI Cooper, ..-but the MINI before my current one had a show europlate (the long skinny ones) on the front, and the state trooper who lives on my street didn't like it much

He hasn't bothered me again, and I kind of think any cop who hassles you simply for a missing front plate has some confused priorities. (He'd be a dweeb).

Now if you do a whole bunch of things wrong at once, it's possible that would be added to the list..

keep in touch with your salesman, he should be able to give you a scheduled build date.

Shipping & prep times seem to vary from 1 to 3 weeks, but some people have posted unusually long lead times... thankfully mine is going really fast.

I also signed a waiver. As far as I know there is no bracket anyway. The front plate is held on with 2 screws through the bumper, so if you decide to put it on later it's not a problem.
I haven't been hassled yet, but I keep the plate, screws, and wrench in the trunk just in case... you know... tell the cop I'll put it on if I can avoid the citation.

Being in the military I hated having to put holes in my bumper for a plate because my home state doesnt have front plates.

I always used doublesided tape for the front. It doesnt come off as long as the surface is clean and wax free.

The Virginia plate was on the front of my wifes car for 3 years with doublesided tape. I bent the crap out of the plate when I removed it last month after we moved. It wasnt going to come off by itself.

I use the plain white 3m tape.

When I ordered the car, I told the dealer to keep all stickers and any other advertising off of my car.

When I went to pick it up, there were no stickers, but they had screwed in a front plate with a dealere paper tag. I pointed it out to the salesman and he said he'd take it off.

Fine...except that it left two big wood screw holes of chewed up plastic. It looked like crap.

I took it back in and had them plug the holes and repaint it. Good as new. Not even the dimples are on there now...just a nice, shiny flat surface.

The only thing that pissed me off was that the saleman tried to convince me that the gnarly holes came like that from the factory. I had to come here (stangnet) to get backup opinions to make my case.

No need for waivers. We don't have front plates in Florida.

I put ths front plates on just cause its the law here in ohio...
I dont see the big deal when people dont want to have it there,, I think if youre state requires you to have it on,you might as well ,,

Required here in Virginia. My wife's Beetle didn't have one on (fell off and too lazy to put back on (me, not her)) and a police officer stopped her.

Front plates are required here, but when the eleanor kit goes on, we will NOT be putting a front plate on that. there's not enough room and it'd ruin the whole look. My Cobra II will not have a front plate either.

It's $100 a pop for no front lic plate tickets here in MN and they are not bashful when it comes to handing them out. I got my ticket from a meter-maid!

If you get pulled over for no front plate, chances are the cops suspect more is going on in that car. Meter maids, however, are ruthless cows. If you don't park in a garage/lot 90% of the time, I'd keep that front plate on...

In Oregon, it is required of the dealer to INSTALL the front plate BRACKET. The owner can put the plate in it or not.. But it is required.

I bought my GT in WA, so no front plate bracket required Though I installed one, adn the plate due to living in OR, and moving to TX soon.. Both front plate states.

I am having a flat, plain licence plate holder color match painted. When installed it should help blend in the plate to the bumper...I HOPE

i have a black gt. i also have a front plate. the thing that bothered me the most was when washing the car, i would cut my hand on the corner of the plate without a plate frame. the best solution i came up with is a 2002 honda civic front license plate bracket. it fits the plate perfectly, and comes around the edges of the plate too. the plate slips into the bracket. it gives it a clean install, i dont cut my hand when washing, and is not advertising for anyone!!! ill go shoot a pic real quick for you to see...

i have'nt decided on my front plate yet, here in Cal. it's required but i have yet to see a late model corvette with a front plate even though they actually have a spot for one!

i also notice that the front plate is a big restiction on the air intake, they could've made the mounting holes an inch and a half or so higher to help some or move it one side. im considering moving the mount holes up as far as possible and trimming off the bottom of the plate if i can figure out how to do it neatly. I wonder if modding the plate a little would be a violation, id hate to get stopped and fined for a petty reason like that. BTW i also keep mine in the trunk with the screws in case the cop is nice enough to let me put it on and just give a warning.

Get that off of your GT right away and go wash your Stang right away,,,wash your mouth and fingers too while youre at it !! How can you even think about having anything that has anything to do with a Civic even near your stang!? Whats next!? Neonlights!?

i figured someone would, but it is really a great idea. very functional and looks good--way better than a regular plate frame.

heres the best pic i could get before the batteries went dead in the camera i looked around for new batteries and also looked in the remotes, but none have a good enough charge to run the digital camera so if and when i get new batteries, i will repost the pic.
