front sump

just get one for a 289/302 for a 1964 through 1972 mustang.. they all used front sump. The real trick will be getting your dipstick working since the 5.0 block has it in the rear sump and early 289/302s had it in the front timing cover.

I think your missing the point here. The pan is a simple issue, just use a pan for 68 Stang and your set. The real issue is how are you going to check the oil? Later 5.0 engines have the dip stick in the side of the block and the stick goes in to the rear sump. If you swap the sump how are you going to check the oil? You wouldhave to get a timing cover with a hold for a front mounted dip stick. Doing that you then lose the serpentine belt system....... if you are using V belts then you are ok....
