FRPP is making a somewhat new gear set ( M-4209-373 N for New?):
New manufacturing technology utilizes a Face Hob Process which features a single pass pinion tooth machining operation compared to a conventional three pass process for machining. CNC cut and lapped gear teeth. Higher strength and better quality gears are produced with the Face Hob Process. (Continues...)
Evidently the set I just purchased is this new N type. Soooooo, my question is more specific: Has anyone tried these -373N?
The only thing the hobbing machining process means is that the gears are produced faster and with consequently less overhead cost and a higher profit margin for the manufacturer. The gears are the same, the prices are the same, but cost less to make.
