I am getting ready to purchase a cat back for my 04 GT. Sound is my concern. I want more than stock, but minimal drone and not too loud overall. All winter long I had been leaning toward the Steeda system. Looking around the 'net last night, I came across info on the FRPP cat back. I read a few opinions about it on here and think it might fit the bill at half the cost of the Steeda. BUT, I only seem to be able to find it on one website ( I think speedconcepts) as it appears to be unavailable otherwise.

SO one question--is this available still?

and one opinion--FRPP or Steeda?

THANKS

somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe I remember the FRPP exhaust was made by borla with different tips?

I think you are looking at a stinger catback.

Magnaflow, Flows, Mac= 5.0 and 4.6
Borla, Corsa, FLP=lsx

Just my preference. So many peeps here with so many setups will chime in.

If you keep the stock mid pipe with cats, you will not get to crazy loud with a good catback. I would check out a mac catback. For some reason, I have always loved thier sound and have gotten many comments when I had mac on my car. Its not to loud but not quite like its stock, just right!

I thought about MAC but my friend had that on his 01 and the drone was too much for me, I think he had an o/r H though.

I called Ford Racing and they do not make a cat back for this generation anymore. They used to and I can find it in places on the 'net but it is essentially a Borla Stinger kit (as stated above) and according to the sales rep "extremely loud". It is also in the $550-$600 range.

I do want Stainless and a moderate volume level with minimal drone, so I am pretty sure that I am going to order the Steeda cat back. From my understanding this is made by Borla to Steeda's specs. It is pricey, but living in CT I want to be able to drive more months out of the year than I did in my 'vert and not have to worry too much about road salt, etc.

Thanks for the help.

Let us know what you end up doing. I dont think you will have to much a problem with drone if you do not have an off road pipe. With the stock pipe it shouldnt hardly drone at all, but best of luck!

I too notice that that is usually the concencus but now that Chevy doesn't make the Blowmero anymore(well for now) more and more StangBangers are rocking the Borla and SLP. Obviously its what im running. I love the way they both sound and lately i've been really like the sound of the Stinger. Plus LS1's sound like complete shat, IMHO.
