I currently have a set of short tube headers - unknown brand - that I bought on craigslist and put on the car a few months back. Dirt cheap and obviously so. I've read a few parts reviews on the Ford Racing Short Tube headers and saw someone claim on a n/a motor to have gained about 20 RWHP. Anyone have any experience with these? Are there really any short tube headers worth getting - everything I've seen has pointed towards long tubes (and even those add only marginal gains).

you may get 1-2rwhp from them. they are a complete waste of time and i would sell them and use the money elsewhere

What type of gains can be seen from LT headers? I was dyno-jett'd at 289 rwhp before i retarded my ignition for NOS. Could I expect at least 10 rwph?

I want to dyno where you go!! How did you manage such high numbers with those bolt ons?

That's with me assuming you weren't spraying any shot on the dyno

Please ask me how much my supercharger cost

I have every bolt ons,a dyno tune (still have stock mufflers) and I made 270rwhp. 289rwhp w/o headers would be crazy high. Oh and ford racing headers will get you about 0rwhp

TB + Plenum + Typhoon were all port matched - Typhoon required porting and major shaving to remove flash. Mods missing from the list are aluminum driveshaft, steeda UDP's. Jacksonville is at flat sea level as well. If it makes you feel better - my torque was only 312.

I have read lots of people bash the typhoon and I think it is fairly unwarranted. Yes, the product sucks straight from the box. It has major issues with casting debris left on the upper and lower part of the intake (aka: flash). But I would reccomend it, I felt a nice gain in the upper RPM range (about 3000 and up although they will say its from 1500 to 6500). If anything, the low end feels like it went down a bit. But it sure does scream on the high end. The manifold bolted right in with no issues on the fit. That plastic intake manifold is garbage - especially if you spray or live in an area with extreme heat and humidity. But again - if you buy the intake manifold you better buy a few grinding/sanding wheels for your dremel and get a flex extension because the flash is everywhere.

I actually have had FRPP headers on a ported headswap car. Not worth it.

Also, those are some record breaking numbers you are putting down. Some NA cars with cams are not putting down what you are. What does your car trap?

i have the ford racing shorties....
and i agree with everyone else....not worth it.
The only reason i got them was because i managed to get them new at half price.

With all other bolt ons except for pullies, the shorties felt about the same gain as adding my x pipe or the catback

Go for long tubes.

I haven't been to a strip yet for 1/4 mile - I have to be "approved for outside activities" by work. I'm running the stock premium wheels from the "Spring Feature" package with Bridgestone Potenzas. Definitely not drag radials by any means and I'm rocking an automatic trans. The aluminum driveshaft is "supposed" to help transfer more HP from crank to rear wheels by reducing weight of rotational mass, but I can't tell much of a difference. I don't even want to see what my times would be until I can get my 3.73's installed - which have been in the box unopened in my garage for a few weeks now. I'm going to go back in for a dyno pull next weekend, I forget the name of the dyno but it's designed for AWD cars and the guy said the dyno numbers it puts out are "always a heartbreaker". I need to get tuned for the bigger nitrous shots. Will try to record on video. Once weather cools down (next hurricane/tropical storm) that rolls through the area I'll go back to the dynojet and try and capture that on vid too. 75 bucks for 3 pulls isn't too bad - I don't drink so I've gotta spend money somewhere! Will try to pull old dyno sheet for upload and to double check numbers.

reality check - 269 HP 312 RWTQ
will be going back, this time to Stage 6 here in Jax, within the next week to try and get a tune to take advantage of the new intake manifold. $75 bucks for 3 pulls or $250 for pulls + tune. It's on an AWD dyno though, dynodynamics I believe - which is supposed to give out lower readings than the mustang dyno. Back on the question of headers - what types of gains have y'all seen with long tubes?

lol these threads i see on forums about shorty headers being a waste of money crack me up.
for a bolt on car, shorty headers are not the way to go. but if u have say a centri blower with the bottom end that can spin higher without popping; shorties will put out more numbers over lts.
they are just 2 different ends of the spectrum

and where in this thread has anybody mentioned a blower?
So since you attempted to hijack this thread, got any personal dyno time of your claims proving shorties make more power on a stock bottom end car with a blower?

How was this a hijack... its a thread about shorty headers....

and i watched someone at a dyno day put out better numbers with the addition of shorties on centri blown car with forged bottom end( hence why i said a bottom end that can take higher rpms in my original post).. its not rocket science dude.

i dont understand why some of u guys on this forum are such jackasses... if u read what i put: shorties+ centri = better gains not that hard to understand lol. lts give u low end shorties top end. a centri doesnt even put out everything untill ~4k
