FRUSTRATED 5.0 ~1991 with electrical problems

I have this HOT red convertible..broke the ignition stator by just tightening it's mount bolts...replaced it but may have wiring wrong...I figured a mechanic could do a faster/better job than me..but 460 dollars later..they couldn't find the problem..say no spark from Ignition switch located on steering colum..replaced that but it only allowed radio to play without ignition activated(no key in place).
What can I do..it seemed like such a simple problem but I can't see it..may need to rewire...but thats odd cuz all I did was transfer bad solidnoid for good...I CAN start and run engine by just having ignition key switched on and crossing solinoid terminals with big metal wrench. I have checked fuses..the fuseable link looked okay too...help..any San Francisco Bay Area guys out there want to tackle this?
