I think I finally got the timing chain installed correctly (the thrust washer problem) if you have been following my other problems...

Well anyways...when I go to put on the timing cover...it keeps moving the gasket away from the oil pan bolt holes...I've tried it by myself and with a friend and we can't get the gasket hole to stay over the bolt hole...make sense?...it keeps getting blocked...

Does anybody have tips to keep that gasket there...it keeps distorting and the rubber gasket goes over the hole...I tried probably a dozen times...

Thanks,
David

I just did this the other day and what i did was put a little bit of RTV gasket maker to the edges where it meets up with the half moon seal on the pan and let it get a little bit tackie so it would stick and stay. Are you using a one peice gasket or 4?

It's a one piece gasket (93 model)...but I cut the half moon off and installed the new one Ed gave me (FTI)...

The problem is...is when I took of the timing cover originally it ripped the metal rings that the bolts go through partially from the rubber surrounding it...so the metal and rubber move around seperatly...

Thanks for the response...I thought about taking the metal rings out anyways and just using the rubber...I think it would be fine...

Keepem' coming :nice:
