I recently built a 94 5.0 331 stroker, afr 185's, 542 563 lift cam, typhoon intake, 24# injectors, mass air, 255lph fuel pump, msd everything, headers, flows, jet chip the whole 9. I just cant seem to get it to run right. it seems to miss, it stutters at low rpm when you first accelerate. its not a huge problem it still gets it, but not like it should. the timing is set at 16 btdc but starts hard. i also eliminated smog and a/c. I've taken it to mechanics but they seem to be a little out of their league. Can any body offer any good advice on how i can make this car live up to its potential?

First off...WELCOME TO OUR FORUM

Since you have done so much at once, it's hard for us to say. Some possibilities:

1. one or more bad injectors, especially if you got them used and they sat out of the car
2. spark plug(s)
3. vacuum....check all your hoses, lines and tubes for connections and cracks.

You should find a good performance shop with a dyno and have the car tuned.

GOod luck

You mentioned a Jet Chip. I assume that's a mail order chip? With a long list of mods like you have, I'd recommend taking it to a Mustang performance shop and getting a custom tune on a dyno.

I agree with Trick95. If that a mail order chip its probably hurting you more than its helping you. You'd want to get a custom chip...preferably get the car dyno tuned. Other than that check simple stuff like vacuum hoses, sensors, spark plugs, injectors(you might want to go with 30# injectors anyway), etc.

Keep us posted on your progress.

You didn't give the cam duration and such, but are you sure its just not due to it? I don't know how many cammed up cars you've been in, but some cams will be "choppy" at lower RPMs. I lucked out in that I can nail mine at idle and it won't stumble, rock, miss... NOTHING. Its just pulls and goes. I can not say this about almost every other cammed car I've been in though. From what you are describing, that would be my guess as to what your problem is, and unfortunately it can NOT be tuned out. This is why you see certain rear gear requirements for cams, if the cam manufacture knows it will be choppy until say 2000rpms, then they might suggest a 4.10 or so rear gear so when you are at highway cruising speeds and step ont he throttle it won't stumble until the rpm's come up. As for the chip, I agree with the others. The only mail order chip worth anything are those from JMS, I would still recommend getting a custom burnt chip at a knowledgable mustang tuning shop. 24lb injectors are probably stretching it a bit. As for the hard start, you need to decribe it more. It could be a heat soaked starter from longtubes if you have them, or it could be a hot start problem and you will need to cut the pulsewidth back on startup with the larger injectors. What MAF are you running? The MAF is the cuplrit for a lot of tuning heaches in our cars since it is used by the EEC to determine load which is used in damn near every table that the EEC has.
