Here’s my inertia switch story.

When I was restoring my 91 GT I had the interior out. I was test driving it down the road, and the road near my house was pretty bumpy and had some dips and undulations. As I was coming back, the car shut off.

I had no idea what happened, but fortunately my Dad was riding with me and he immediately went to the trunk. We had detached the inertia switch and had it just hanging by the wires. As we were driving, it swung back into the sheet metal hard enough to trip it and shut off fuel to the engine.

Just a note
You can fix old chevys using ford parts
Been that way forever
I put a ford washer bottle and pump on my 69 Z-28
All cars should have an inertia switch
Back in the late eighties and early 90's
Gang Bangers in SLC used to run up on Cop car crown vics and bump them
Triggered the inertia switch killing the car
The bangers run off laughing

One concern to me would be if excessive heat is present underhood. Another thought would be what is the application (street vehicle, road race, drag car)? A drag car that routinely pulls the wheels and slams down the front end may trigger the switch. Just a thought to consider.

Right
The inertia switch is quite like a pinball machine tilt switch
Small magnet a steel ball and a spring
The magnet barely has more pull than the spring
Fun to play with
Get a couple for the grandkids
Any small jolt sets them off
Put it in the trunk or rear of the car behind a panel or something
