i changed my stock fuel filter to a napa wix filter.(no big deal really with the right tools)
my question is how many of you have changed your fuel filters after 30,000 miles?

if so what filters did you use.

30K intervals is what the manual calls for. It is easy and relatively cheap insurance. I use a Motorcraft filter.

I changed mine at about 35K miles with a Purolator filter (Motorcraft was out of stock). Very easy to do, I had also purchased a cheap tool to disconnect the fuel line from the filter.

It's getting about time for me to change my filter also. This may be a stupid question, but are there any instructions on this floating around anywhere?

A good rule of thumb is this. If you can afford the time and money to do so, then by all means change your fuel filter once a year. Same goes for transmission fluid, transmission filter, coolant, rear end fluid, and spark plugs, that is, if you can afford it. Its cheap insurance and the life of your car will be preserved by doing so.
